It seems the new owners want more diverse, natural looking girls rather than the super model types. I was very surprised that Colorado and Wisconsin did not place. I noticed throughout the evening, the emphasis was "confidently beautiful". Maybe they are wanting someone with average looks but with big personality and confidence.

The show was very boring. Lots of commercial breaks, lots of video packages, took an hour to announce the "final 15", no longer called the top 15. I didn't like how during the "final 10" selection, they took a commercial break in the middle of it. Their effort to create suspense created boredom for me. I like the 2 hour format where the selections moved quickly without all the talking. Seems like they are turning the pageant into a reality tv special type show aimed at the younger demographic. This is the network American Idol airs on and it seemed like they kind of show, rather than a beauty pageant. If I want cheesy tv with over-emoting contestants, I will watch Miss America. Miss USA and Miss Universe always gave the vibe of cool, the most beautiful, and super-model types rather than some of the girls they selected last night.

I appreciate the winner's service to our country but she came across as full of herself during the questions. "Me, me, me" type answers. She kept repeating that she was in the Army.  Depending on what the new owners are looking for, she will probably be final 3 at Miss Universe. Not in my "final 3" though.

I don't like this winner. I'm sorry. I was screaming "okey, you're in the army. I get it. You are a woman of military"
She was banging us in the head with her attitude. As if she was saying, I'm better than the rest
because I.... AM.... A.... WOMAN....OF..... MILITARY"

I wrote to the Miss USA -topic the same thing. "Me, me, me, me, me"

Her national costume to Miss Universe will probably be her armyclothes
Good on her, but you don't have to beat our heads with it.

Also, didn't like the whole "daddy's girl" section. Way too American Idol for me!

To me, the telecast was 3 hours of cheesy clips, average or below average finalists (with a few exceptions), mediocre musical acts, and horrible presenters. I didn't think it could get worse than Steve Harvey, but it did. At least they didn't mess up announcing the winner.

Miss USA and Miss Universe are supposed to be the top of the top. Glamorous, sexy, sophisticated. I don't care how many 3 pointers a girl can hit or that she is proficient in football. Or that she is a daddy's girl. That is fine and all, but I want to watch a beauty pageant, not a 3 hour get to know you informercial. 

I didn't pay any attention to South Dakota before the show. I thought she was a pleasant surprise and she looked very MUOish in her pretty evening gown. Another girl I noticed was Maine. She didn't place, but I thought she was very pretty. I wonder why Colorado and Wisconsin didn't place. Maybe they weren't cheesy enough in their interview.

The clips of the runway coach made me laugh with her "fierceness and diva attitude" instructing the girls how to walk. When she said, "It got real, real fast in here, didn't it?" followed by the dramatic video of the injured contestant being hauled off was so manufactured and fake.

Barf!!!!
