Yana Dobrovolskaya wins Miss Russia 2016

Yana Denisovna Dobrovolskaya from Tyumen was crowned Miss Russia 2016 by Sofia Nikitchuk, Miss Russia 2015, on April 16 at the Barvikha Luxury Village. She will represent Russia at Miss Universe and/or Miss World pageant provided that there are no conflict in schedules. The 18-year-old dancer and model defeated 49 women to win the finals. This year’s contest topic was “space”, dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s first spaceflight.

During the post-coronation interview, the new Miss Russia told reporters that her dream is to become a professional choreographer and train future champions. “My dream is to play a role on someone’s life, be a great teacher and nuture champions, to become a wife and a wonderful example for my children,” she told the Russian news agency TASS.

She is currently pursuing a degree in teaching and choreography at the Tyumen State College of Art. She performed at the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. On being asked about her thoughts and preparations for international pageant, she replied “I took part at Sochi Olympic Games as an artist, therefore I know what it is to protect the honor of the country. I love my country and I will do everything to make a worthy performance.”
