Ioanna describes her struggle after injuring herself when she was younger and having become paralyzed. She couldn't walk for 5 months.

"I played volleyball since I was seven. At first in Poseidon, Veroia and then when I was 15 in Hercules and in the teams of the national team, with my mother bringing me to my training. Indeed, a Russian manager had seen me and I was going to go and compete in the championship. Although I was only 90 pounds, which meant I had to do immediate reinforcement, he liked both my technique and my body type since I have the right proportions, long legs and I am everywhere in good shape.

A few weeks before I left, in preparation with the national team of teenagers in Soufli, we were in the gym along with the men's department and lifting weights. My coach was missing. Someone bet me that I can not lift 300 pounds on the bar. I tried it. And in the second repetition I heard a crack and I fell down. I suffered a spinal injury and a fracture in my tailbone. I spent the next five months in the bed of a clinic in Thessaloniki, unable to walk.

As long as I was bedridden I went through a mini-depression. I was shocked. Volleyball was my whole life. I thought 'my dreams ended. And I am guilty of it.' The worst was when doctors could not find out why I could not walk, they made me take so many tests, including my brain. This particular night, until the results came out, was the worst of my life.

I remember my mother trying to hide her anxiety by going and crying all night in the bathroom. And I was sure that something very bad is happening to me. Five months later, I walked out of the clinic, but again I did not feel well, I felt my feet paralyzing. So the doctor told me to go to school with a wheelchair.

The first time I went to school with the wheelchair was very uncomfortable. But both my friends and my teachers made me feel good. I got up from the wheelchair at the end of the school year. But I continued to take pills and do intensive physical therapies for another year & and a half."

I know she spoke of getting rid of the tattoos on the morning show but has she got rid of them already or is she planning of getting rid of them prior to MU. I personally don't mind a small tattoo discreetly placed. And while I truly respect the important message her tattoos represent the way they are spread along both her thighs makes i look like she has garters on. Good luck to Iwanna although I dont think she needs it....she is our best MU contestant since Iliana and I hope this time justice is done because Iliana was robbed big time as we know!!!

During the final night the tatoos weren't there!! I don't know if they are allredy removed but she has said that she will remove them!

 Anthing would have been an improvement on Psilou...boy were they laughing at her internationally and for all the wrong reasons. Anyway I have a really good feeling about Iwanna...she has really impressed and is receiving really positive comments on other forums....she is simply stunning...who is dressing her for MU? No comments on Lepaki...can't believe there are still people (probably relatives of relatives) who are saying she should have got Star Hellas!!!! Are people serious...how about showing credit where credits due...she was the best of the them all, even a blind man could see that!!! Anyway I doubt Lepaki will embarass us as much as Psilou but she will just fade in the background and just have a nice holiday as all our last Miss Worlds have!!!!

Oh yes!!! Psilou is an icon  she can't be compared!!
I think Prevelakis hates Julia, he must have a plan to make her resign...he sends Psilou and now Lepida  How much can poor Julia take?! To be fair Psilou is memorable and she can talk(with her annoying pitchy voice) Lepida is just dumb and forgetable!

Yeh you have to feel for Julia...it really shows such disrespect to the MW competition when you send girls who do not possess the necessary attributes including not only beauty but brains and also some involvement and knowledge around social activism and issues within communities. Its called Beauty with a Purpose....whats been the purpose of the girls we have sent? The Organisation should really scrap picking a MW representative if they are not going to take this pageant seriously, because at the moment they are treating it as a joke and we are fast losing integrity in our participation in MW!!

Good on her for getting the tattoos removed. She is gorgeous and I would love to see her do well....and win!
