The Antwerp Elena Castro Suarez has been elected as the new Miss Belgium. She succeeds another Antwerp (Angeline Flor Pua). Castro Suarez is 19 and has Belgian-Spanish roots. She is therefore the sixth Flemish Miss Belgium in a row.

Elena Castro Suarez came out as a winner tonight during the election show at the Plopsa Theater in De Panne. Her first honorary lady was Miss Namen, Elodie Duchesne, and second honorary lady Aline Elsermans. After her, Michelle Vermeersch, Julie Boone and Melissa Ghysels followed. At the announcement of the top 3, Miss Belgium's organizer Darline Devos stated that the points were very close together.

The show had started with 29 finalists. Actually it had to be 30, but one had fallen ill. The candidates were presented one by one on the podium and were introduced in a special way. That resulted in surprising facts. Donna 'works during the day with her dad in the meat wholesaler, where she easily lifts and cuts up 20 kilograms of meat'. The greatest specialty "of Josephine Charlotte" are her freckles that distinguish her from her modeling work. " Chloë 'may well be a miss and love photo shoots, yet she likes to help on the farm of her parents where she drives the tractor and milks the cows'.

Afterwards the field of participants was reduced to 20 candidates and then to 12. They defiled clothes on the catwalk and were subjected to a question round. So they had to describe their great example, and that turned out to be - not surprisingly - among others Mother Teresa, Gandhi and Angelina Jolie. The previous Miss Belgium Angelina Flor Pua was waved off with a choreography about aviation in which her (new) career as a pilot was central.

Elena Castro Suarez is the sixth Flemish Miss Belgium in a row. In 2013 the Liège Noémie Happart, the current wife of Red Devil Yannick Carrasco, won. After her, Laurence Langen (Genk), Annelies Törös (Berchem), Lenty Frans (Sint-Lenaarts), Romanie Schotte (Bruges) and Angeline Flor Pua (Borgerhout) followed.
