A few years ago I got Alopecia Areata (an autoimmune disease where hair falls out in certain areas of the entire body) .

As a young girl I was insecure, luckily I got over that, but due to Alopecia disease I became very insecure about myself again because of my appearance .
On my scalp, more and more bald spots started to appear, becoming more and more visible (my hair was my most beautiful jewelry) .
I decided not to hide it, but to embrace it openly, by shaving my head completely bald .

I showed myself to the whole world and because of the acceptance of this, I have become extremely confident! I want to tell everyone that I experience it as true freedom . In this society we learn that we have to look perfect and especially our hair should be comfortable . The process I went through makes me no longer care if I'm bald or my hair is nice . I am who I am, what you see is what you get! With or without Alopecia . I want to inspire others to share: You don't have to continue living in insecurities .

By participating in the Miss Netherlands election, I would like to bring especially attention to the disease Alopecia, here attention to questions and indicate that it can happen to everyone . It matters how you deal with it . That you work on your self-image and development . Don't hide, show who you are, with or without illness . That's why I now want to be an example for others who suffer from it!

I am someone who turned the vulnerability of this disease into strength . I wish this to others as well . How beautiful it would be if I could pass that power on to others in a low-threshold way!

With my participation in Miss Netherlands, I want to make the first step towards personal development more accessible for youth and young adults . I used to let my insecurities influence a lot of choices . I didn’t put myself first and I chose the easiest route for me . At the age of 23, I decided to change this . I'm grateful for where this choice has brought me and will take me . The road to this is just not always easy . It’s falling down and getting up and breaking old patterns . Luckily I get a lot of support from the people around me . I discovered how much information there is about mental and physical health that we crazy enough are not taught at a young age . Everyone deserves to become the best version of themselves and to be supported to do so . Let's take the first step together, because every step taken now affects our future .

With my participation in Miss Netherlands I want to inspire people to believe in themselves . Where there's a will, there's a way as long as you believe! I used to be told that special education might be better for me, fortunately I never conceded myself and the people around me . Cause look, years later I'm a graduate social therapist . In addition, a few years ago, I never thought that I would have a chance to win a final place at Miss Netherlands . I was way too small and too full for that, wasn't I? Yet I've always secretly believed in it, and here I am! You can achieve anything as long as you believe! Be you and believe in yourself!

With the stage that this course offers me, I want to convey to everyone that being yourself is more than okay! It makes sense that this generation is fast becoming insecure because so much is expected of us by the pressure that social media puts on us . I want people to think about what a progress moment they can celebrate without you comparing yourself to someone who’s in a whole different situation or moment in their life so you can be proud of yourself and educate yourself appreciate . Because loving yourself is not about loving yourself you need self-esteem for that . I hope that we will all be a lot more positive in life that way!

I am Solange, 26 years old and live in the center of Amsterdam . Grew up in Den Bosch and moved to the big city when I was 18 . What I do daily is provide luxury hosting to companies, restaurants and events with my own company Solange Productions . They hire me as the front view of an evening and business card . In addition, I also work on TV, sometimes as a presenter for example BNN vara, sometimes as an appearance in programs like "The allskunner" . This is what I love doing! Now, of course, in my daily life, I am busy with my goals for Miss Netherlands . Because why I'm participating in Miss Netherlands is for a few points .

First of all, I want to make people more aware of HIV/AIDS, the dangers and easy incidence, but also prevention and medication . Latest statistics show HIV is making a huge rise among heterosexual students, really bizarre! Something that can be stopped so easily these days with preventive medication or the basic knowledge of safe sex . With my participation I want to bring more attention to this in order to create a healthier Netherlands .
Further, I want better sexual education in schools, with more insight into gender identity and 'deferior to the norm' . I never had this myself back in the day, it was quite literally just boy girl and pregnancy, nothing else . This is so outdated and so much better! Most bullying in school is caused by ignorance of knowledge, that's why I always say knowledge is power . With my win as Miss Netherlands 2022, I want to in conversation with the Minister of Education to put together a package about sexual education that is easy to understand, effective and is also safe for all kinds of young people . I would like to offer this to schools to use in the classrooms .

Lastly big point why I participate in Miss Netherlands is that I want more representation of transgender people in the Netherlands . Growing up myself there was no comparison material and so I didn't realize what was 'going on' with me because I simply had no idea what you all could be or could become . Representation is extremely important, especially for the youth . With my participation I am already a role model for many, with my profits I reach an even bigger platform for people of all ages to be themselves or become themselves . It's often not just about being transgender, it's about being different.. . . For people, it can be very confusing and frightening when the world around you is completely different from you, and that can result in a lot of bullying behavior from fellow students . Young people are at a significantly higher risk of depression and the suicide rates are unfortunately through the roof . This can and should be better, and I like to contribute to that at .

So, in short . With my participation/profit in Miss Netherlands I want to achieve:
Making more information available about HIV/AIDS
Better sexual education for young people in schools
More transgender representation in the Netherlands

As Miss Netherlands, I want to make women feel confident again with the realistic image of the female body . These days you don't know where to look . Everyone on social media seems to have the perfect body, perfect skin and perfect hair . While in reality this is an image that doesn't exist . This makes many women and (young) girls insecure . This can then lead to editing photos to look perfect or there may be serious physical problems, such as eating disorders and depression with all their . But now it's time to bring those confident and strong women back up together!
