Miss U.S.A., Betty Lane Cherry (right), from South Carolina, gets hug from his mother off to try for title of Miss World 1956. Betty likes Miss America, Marion Ann McKnight and Miss Universe 1954, Miriam Stevenson because they are from South Carolina as well. Betty will tour Europe after the contest.
