i have the same impression. whats ur impression on the following,they really confuse me:

1.Arkansas.....i liked her performance in sw and eg but her face is so empty for me and expressless.U have to have more than a dress to be Tali.

she was the best performer for me that night. i thought her facial expressions are perfect. playful in swimsuit and fierce and catwalk diva-ish in gown.

3.Kansas.....very regal girl....if she just tried abit harder.........

florida's face bugs me , NY was good in swimsuit and mediocre at best during gown

5.Nevada everyone cheering her up,really bothered me. Ok its Las Vegas but if she lands a spot ill be mad.

nevada looked kinda heavy to me

6.Colorado......bad choice in gown or she has no waist? she was so better looking in her national final.

i really don't remember unremarkable girls, so there...

Based on the preliminary comp. Arkansas is my bet! I agree with all what you said here, bubbles!

we completly disagree on Arkansas (but that aint and sure wont be the last time.....hahahahaha). Really good performance but her face doesnt say anything to me. I find her sympathic enough to make it to top 5 but thats it. I prefered Hawai's exotic hypnotizing movement,Uta's aristocratic poise on stage, California's confident walk and sexy dynamic Minesotta. Not Over the TOP as Arkansas but u knew they were there to give it all.

u have to see this video -the preliminarie's judges talking about what they want and with lots of backstage from the pr. show and the rehearsals.

what i understood is the judges score the girls behind closed doors firstly and that the presentation show is made to reinforce or alter their decisions. Didnt know that.
