TRIVIA: Did you know that the first ever Ms. Universe, Armi Kuusela of Finland, after touring the world over, fell in love with a Filipino businessman by the name of Virgilio “Gil” Hilario?

And apparently strong in her commitment to her new found love, a month before her reign ended, she chose to be Mrs. Hilario and relinquish her crown. Gil, friends say, swept Armi off her feet with his dancing skills; and when Armi left for Japan to continue her duties, Gil followed her and even got into a scuffle over her, and married her with a right black eye fresh on his face.

But if the first Ms. Universe was already taken, what about the other first beauty queens of the world? Well the first Ms. International, Stella Márquez of Columbia, also fell for a Pinoy, this time Filipino mestizo businessman, Jorge Araneta.

And, yes, the first Ms. Asia winner, Angela Filmer from Malaysia, was snatched up by Filipino Jose Faustino.

Armi Kuusela-Williams is coming home to Finland for her 80th Birthday  
Armi celebrates her birthday on August 20th and is travelling to Finland with his husband Albert Williams and her children and granchildren (with Gil Hilario)

On August 23th the city of Muhos (where Armi was born) will held special event in her honor where people can come and greet her.

Needles to say we are a bit exited about all this here in Finland. Media is really interested and will definetly be there to greet her also

Oh, I'm not going there (I wish). But don't have a chance to.
Muhos is really far from where I live and my own workcommitments don't allow me to travel now.

But I will deffo keep you informed on what happens. I'm sure media coverage will be massive for this. So we will get lots of info   

Awesome video and she is looking good at 80! If the Miss Universe pageant has any sense of continuity, they would have her as a judge soon! Pretty, classy lady!

Or as special guest in their show, at least.
The pageant will probably be in Las Vegas this year and Armi lives in California, so it's not that far.

She exudes class! What a lady!
