This photo was published on 19th July, the day of the final night. A police officer moves in to help Miss U.S.A. 1957, Leona Gage, who is among the 15 semifinalists of Miss Universe 1957 announced some hours earlier, as she breaks down while being questioned by the press about rumours that she is married and the mother of two children. Miss U.S.A. denied the rumours by broke into tears. The Miss Universe pageant rules automatically disqualifies any contestant who is married. Pageant officials late Thursday said Miss U.S.A. would remain in the contest pending an investigation.
