This photo was published on 21^st July, two days after the final night. Lucky Cadet Glendon Woods chats with his date for the evening, Miss Universe 1957, Gladys Zender from Peru. She almost didn’t get to keep the title when officials found that she is only 17 years and nine months old. Eighteen I sthe legal minimum age for the contest. However, after some haggling contest officers left her the title, saying “we feel that there was no fraud intended and that it was our own stupidity that caused the blunder.”
