No Albania and Kosovo at Miss Universe 2013

It's worth to check the Miss Universe homepage for updates from time to time. Today I noticed that both Albania and Kosovo are OUT of the list of participating countries. Any ideas why???

You'd be surprised how many nations do not recognize Kosovo as a sovereign state, among them Brazil, China, India, Greece, Spain, Mexico, South Africa, Israel, Philippines, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and yes Russia.
Whereas most of the countries on that list simply do not recognize Kosovo, Russia is one of a few that is strongly against their independence.
Personally, I think each country has a right to recognize whomever they want but it's sad to see politics affect a beauty pageant.
I'm not sure why Albania would not compete however.

The United Nations do not recognise Kosovo either, so there must be some issues here!!!
To be honest I wish that every country could participate, not just MU but in any international event, but in this case I am happy to see two free spots in the semis for some deserving beauties! And perhaps Fadil will treat all girls equally this year!

So sad to hear that. However, I wish that they'll come back with a big vengeance. Hope to see them in the final two next year.

As for Fadil's choice to withdraw Albania, I think it's totally unprofessional! 
Why did he chose the two girls for ALbania in the first place and gave them false hopes? He obviously knew the problems Kosovo has, we all knew and disguising the possibility of Kosovo not taking part since Moscow was announced!

It's sad but I see around the Internet people accusing Russia and Russians for the fact that Albania and Kosovo not taking part in MU!
This is not about Russia, the UN and the European Union has also not recognised Kosovo, we can't accuse all of them for being racists!
There are some serious issues about Kosovo such as the human rights of the Serbian minority. I read that the Serbian minority lives in separate areas, protected by NATO peacekeepers!! Serbs constitute 95% of population in North Kosovo, whose 1,200 km2 (463 sq mi) comprise 11% of Kosovo's territory.
They should deal with these issues before accusing countries for being racists!

He was awful to Ilianna back in 2011! Perhaps too scared of the competition...I really hope this year that none of his gals will take part, he will be only a photographer that do his job in the best possible way and not a national director promoting his girls!

If Miss Kosovo suddenly become Miss Universe, as Miss Universe contract will be for a year to travel around the world, a lot of missions to different countries, if many countries, including Russia and do not recognize Kosovo's independence is a very controversial issue, Trump is unlikely to wants it Â

Ιt's not just Russia, it's the majority of the countries around the world and the UN, European Union and other major global orgs! They try to present it as ''bad Rusia" does not leave a poor girl compete but there is more to it!
