2012 Miss Tourism International passed away :(

The daughter of a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) star who was crowned 2012 Miss Tourism International in Malaysia passed away after her battle with lung cancer in Cebu City.

Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2012 Rizzini Alexis Gomez, 24, is the daughter of former PBA player Roel Gomez of the Alaska Aces. Interment details would be announced later.

Gomez, a registered nurse, was the second of three Filipinas to win the 21-year-old Miss Tourism International pageant which is usually crowned on New Year’s Eve in Malaysia.

Fans from around the world sent messages of condolences to the family of Rizzini through social media and pageant websites.
“May her soul rest in peace. And thank you for the honor you’ve brought to the country,” a fan posted.
Reports that the international beauty queen was diagnosed with the big C first surfaced sometime in 2014.
That same year in December, the Cebuana beauty flew to Malaysia to crown her successor won by Angeli Dione Gomez of Cebu (not related to Rizzini) also of the Philippines.

It was a back-to-back win for the Philippines in the Miss Tourism International contest during (2012-2013) and (2013-2014).
Rizzini attended the finals of the pageant in Malaysia but she was not able to crown Angeli anymore because she was not feeling well, reports said.
She was rushed to the hospital when she arrived in the country after her reign.
Later she decided to recuperate in her hometown.
Friends of Rizzini said that they were shocked to find out that she had lung cancer because she never smoked.
