Battle of the Camps

Every year Binibining Pilipinas is not just about battle of the girls but also battle of the camps.

Being with a Camp is a plus factor for any lady that wishes to become a national pageant winner. Beauty Queen makers recruit these girls from regional pageants, local pageants or sometimes they just discover them somewhere and train them to prepare themselves for National and International pageants.

However, it does not require one to be part of any groups. Although those who are in beauty camps always comes out very prepared and well trained ready to snag any titles.

Aces & Queens

Their Records

Most of the time these camp wins the Universe title, and although the Miss World franchise is no longer under BPCI they also wins Miss World Philippines title since 2011.

The first time Aces & Queens wins Miss Universe Philippines (Bb Pilipinas - Universe) title is in 2001 (Zorayda Ruth Andam), followed by Giona Cabrera (2005), Lia Andrea Ramos (2006), Ana Teresa Licaros (2007), Jennifer Barrientos (2008), Maria Venus Raj (2010), Shamcey Supsup (2011), Janine Tugonon (2012), Ariella Arida (2013), Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (2015) who become our third Miss Universe.

Note: The tourism title started in 2011, though BPCI already awarding this title before with runners up but not a major title. In 2012 Katrina was not able to compete since Miss Tourism Queen International was not held that year. Cindy Miranda was able to compete in 2013. In 2014 the pageant was not held again so last year Ann Colis competed in Miss Globe and wins the tile. The Bb Pilipinas - Globe title was awarded in 2016

Note: Mutya ng Pilipinas usually send girls to this pageant not until 2014 when the franchise is now under BPCI. In 2010 Christi competed in Miss Intercontinental and ended as Semi Finalist and was awarded Miss Continental Queen of Asia & Oceania. Last year she was crowned Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental and everyone was surprised , we thought she is no longer eligible for this title anymore. For the second attempt Christi is so close for our first Miss Intercontinental title , she placed 1st runner up and again she was awarded Continental Queen of Asia & Oceania

Kagandahang Flores Camp, KF for short is the oldest camp, so I will just share their records from what I remember.

Universe

As far as I know they won Bb Pilipinas Universe for the first time in 2002, during 60's to 90's there still no camps so I guess yes 2002. Sonia Santiago is their first placement in Bb Pilipinas where she placed 2nd runner up in 1996. They rarely win the Universe title but somtimes they do. MJ Lastimosa switched camp from Aces & Queens to KF in 2014

Isabella competed in Miss Tourism International Queen 2011 for the last minute, we thought she will not compete in any International Pageant anymore reason why she was not physically ready with her body. Parul Shah was handpicked by BPCI to represent the Philippines in Miss Grand International in 2015. I wondering if the franchise still under BPCI this year. She is Miss Tourism 2014.

Their Records

JDV is a small group who also fielding girls for National Pageants. And John De la Vega is a National Director of some minor International Pageants. Janine Tugonon is from JDV in 2011 where she placed 1st runner up before she switched camp in 2012. JDV is no longer that active in fielding girls for Bb Pilipinas maybe because of conflict of interest, JDV has it's own pageant now called Jewel of the Philippines where the winners is being sent to minor pageant like Miss United Continents where Philippines won in 2016.

In 2010 Czarina Gatbonton Pull an upset during the coronation night. She is the last Bb Pilipinas World before the franchise was turned over to Ms Cory Quirino.

Aces & Queens Originally they fielded 24 girls , 18 of them made it to the Top 55 and all 18 made it to the Top 40. However Mae-Lanie Chan was disqualified due to sexy pictorials in the past. So now 17 from this camp is competing for the 6 coveted titles.

Kagandahang Flores Dominated the Top 55 . Originally they fielded 30 girls for Bb Pilipinas however Dhaiza Jimenez backed out before the final screening. 23 girls from KF made it to the Top 55 but only 15 made it to the final Top 40. KF addopted Karla Manongsong and now 16 ladies are competing for the 6 coveted titles.
