ADAU MORNYANG, one of the Miss World Australia 2017 finalists. She came from South Sudan and settled in Australia and became an Australian citizen. Her life story is one for the books. She is also one of the most sought after model in Australia.

An Australian model and Miss World finalist who revealed she was raped as a teen in a Facebook live video that's been viewed more than 34,000 times says she spoke out to protect other girls in her community.

Adau Mornyang, who was born in South Sudan but grew up in Australia, wiped away tears as she revealed horrific details of the attack during the hour long stream on Tuesday. She explained she was 17 when she was assaulted in Adelaide by two men she knew in January 2012.

Now, she's told the Herald Sun there's a lack of respect towards women among young South Sudanese men, some of whom have grown up in Australia.

"Their respect to women and girls has gone out the window to be honest", she said.
