Firstly thanks tidus and lucky for making me a minister... i had ranted about this recently, but it was just a joke... dont feel bad in case u did...

in this thread, u can posts any queries or questions about miss india pageants and i will try my best to clarify/solve !! Thank you !!

ok let me explain...

firstly there are two new pageants MISS INDIA SOUTH and MISS INDIA EAST.... The winners and the two runner-ups of these pageants will get direct entry into final contestant list of femina miss india... the winners of these pageants will get direct entry in the final top 10 of miss india ! (that is how parvathy made it to top 10). Thus, 6 contestants of miss india contest are decided and 2 semi-finalists are also decided in advance!!

Then there are also some other contests like Miss India UK and a competition for Indians in UAE - the winners of these contests also get a spot in contestant lists (Radha was Miss INDIA UK). Thus we now have 8 contestants and 2 semi-finalists.

Then girls from whole country can apply for miss india contest by going to pantaloons outlets. Some 150 girls are short-listed and called for regional auditions in Delhi and Mumbai. From these auditions some more girls will be added to the lists of contestants. Finally there will be around 25-30 contestants and 2 semi-finalists selected.

Then these contestants will get extensive training... trust me, this training is one of the best in the world.. miss indias generally do well due to this training and the one that follows after their national victories....

Then before the finals a stupid voting contest is there and the winner of the contest gets direct entry in 10 semi-finalists. so now we have 3 semifinalists and around 30 contestants.

Then a day before the finals, there will be pre-final judging. In this judging, the judges of miss india sit on chairs and the contestants come to them one by one in BIKINIS. They sit in front of them on chair and are interviewed. its behind the doors. i cant even imagine the condition of the girls then. if you want to see how this session is, go and check out a video called BITCHES AND BEAUTY QUEENS on youtube.. it shows how miss india 2002 went behind the scenes. its very interesting and spicy. finally as a result of pre-judging, 7 more semi-finalists are chosen.... Thus we have our 10 semi-finalists.

These 10 semi-finalists face questions from judges in finals and 5 finalists are selected... they face a common question and then the winners are chosen..... This is how miss india goes...

as you see there are many loopholes... due to direct entries in semi-finalist lists, girls make it to the top even without clearing swimsuit round... miss indias are brainy because as you see, there is a strong emphasis on interviews... there are interviews even for regional auditions.... And then we end up producing Sarah-Janes and Nikita Anands!

TIDUS go through these videos... these are from that movie BITCHES AND BEAUTY QUEENS... if possible, i had suggest watch that movie. you will be shocked, amused and highly entertained. its a must for pageant-fans like us!! even these videos are quite a watch!!

yes!! its amazing buddy!! surely watch the whole movie!! i think its there in many places on internet!!

u will see many stunning things!! girls talking about virginity, smoking in bathroom, eating slimming pills, bitching like hell about each other... these things are not very common in country like mine!! lol.

but its notable how neha dhupia gave a damn about the bitches and focused on her dream to win. it shows a scene where she hold the book "BORN TO WIN" and literally cries... touching scene.... shows how passionate she was to win... a true go-getter, an achiever.... same is true with parvathy. thats y i find her reactions too human aftter miss world...

Corruption?????? When did that happen????? Winners are not really good ALWAYS but that does not make the contest corrupt. Its just bad format. But yes sometimes the winner is not determined solely on final answer as they claim, but on over-all impression which is just fair.

By far there has been only one corruption... Neha Kapur... She was clearly "made" a winner... but to think about it... she is a special girl... its not like she "bought" the crown... they found her special and made things to go her way.... so in a way even thats not corruption....

oh well we need an Osmel for all that...
