Prostitution allegations has rocked the Miss Venezuela Organization!
Allegations surfaced that the Miss Venezuela pageant operated as a prostitution and trafficking network for women and at the center of it all is the man that brought countless crowns for the country, Osmel Sousa. According to reports from several Venezuelan media, Sousa would have subjected his candidates and queens to degrading acts, selling them to sponsors who paid for them high sums of money, to be able to pay for their participation in the contest. In the process, MVO would obtain resources that would allow them to support the famous mansion of beauty.
Venezuelan journalist, Patricia Poleo unleashed a controversy after accusing Osmel, of ‘prostituting’ candidates to government officials in exchange for ‘sponsorship’ money, operations, gifts and property. She called Sousa for using his connections and position at the MVO to procure meetings to businessmen and officials who would act as pageant ‘sponsors’. In return these sponsors and officials would support these candidates for pricey surgeries, apartments, gifts and other amenities to support the candidates in the local and/or international pageants. A hefty cut is said to be given to Osmel and the organization to be able to live comfortably in Venezuela and in the US. “Osmel is looking for the American nationality and, therefore, must live in the US“, says Julio Rodríguez Matute, beauty contest historian.
The Miss Venezuela pageant has denied such claims through the official Instagram account of the organization. Cisneros Media and Venevisión refuted the allegations that has named employees, advisers, sponsors and partners, as well as candidates as accomplices of such ‘unlawful acts’. It further stated that, “The companies responsible for managing the Miss Venezuela Organization wish to clarify that they strongly reject any attempt to involve them in acts other than the nature of their activity and are unaware of any type of relationship or act that could violate the spirit, ethics and values of the event.” They also clarified that they are currently working on the restructuring of the team, after the departure of Osmel.\
A former Miss Venezuela hopeful, Vivian Sleiman, has posted her experience on the contest and with Osmel on her Instagram: When the Czar of Beauty when he saw me in an advertising campaign he sent me a call. I was training for 5 months with one of the best coaches in the contest. My defect was my shyness and I went under the table that year, two months before the presentation to the press I was left without a band. The following year they called me, but in the way of that passage they made an indecent proposal: You have to go where “Fulano” one of the toughest sponsors of the contest he has to see you and take your swimsuit… Being just 20 years old and not knowing a lot of things I wondered why? If the Czar of Beauty had seen me, why did I have to go to that guy? After two weeks I went … but at an early age I learned to be guided by my instinct and I told one of my brothers to come with me because I feel something I do not like … the Man was waiting for me in the meeting naked in a white boxers … Then I learn many more things … and that nobody has dared to speak.
In a report by noticiasaldiayalahora.co, journalist Patricia Poleo named Miss Venezuela 2014 Mariana Jimenez to be one of the beauty queens that had links with a Venezuelan government official. She stated that everything that was spent on Jimenez “was financed by the president of the Central Bank of Venezuela, Nelson Merentes…” She said the girl traveled to Las Vegas with an entourage of 15 people funded by the official, in addition to what she used to compete in the Miss Universe. “The designer Raenra was the one who received all the cash to finance the trip of 15 people and who designed Jiménez’s costume. All that paraphernalia was covered with the money of the Venezuelans. (…) This girl comes from one of the most humble sectors of the country …”
This is not the first time that Osmel Sousa was accused of ‘pimping out’ his winners and candidates to rich officials and businessmen. Back in 2015, Venezuelan journalist Manuel Isidro Molina accused Osmel of using his position pimp out girls to ‘sponsors’. In his blog he stated,”Osmel and Merentes [BCV’s President Nelson Merentes] have a very special relationship that hasn’t transitioned from entertainment to news, radio, television and the Internet. The first one is a provider; and the second one is a consumer, with a big checkbook in ‘bolívares’ and dollars. ‘El Zar de las Misses’ not only provides girls for Nelson, there are other consumers for his expensive girls, especially the ‘bolichicos’ and corrupted ‘viejos verdes,’ who got disgustingly rich with public resources. I am not exaggerating when I attest that this level of shame only occurs in Venezuela’s ‘socialismo salvaje,’ which is probably the most corrupted social and political experience in the Latino Caribbean history.”
This throws shade to the Czar of Beauty’s earlier ‘resignation’ as more and more people are speculating that his departure might not only be due to the socio-political atmosphere of the country, but also to avoid possible prosecution should this go to a public trial. These accusations stains his illustrious career of amassing 20 alpha pageant crowns for Venezuela.

No wonder Osmel left the Org. after many years.
Their 2009 B2B was a fraud, Dominican Republic's, Ada Aimée De La Cruz was the clear winner of that year.
The Miss Venezuela 2018 pageant has been cancelled for now, and the reigning Miss Venezuela, Sthefany Gutiérrez is uncertain if she will go to MU 2018.

Miss Venezuela to close temporarily over corruption claims
from BBC News
The Miss Venezuela beauty pageant is being suspended after allegations of sexual favours and financial corruption emerged online.
Former Miss Venezuela participants have accused other contestants of receiving money from businessmen and government officials in exchange for sexual favours.
Casting for Miss Venezuela and Mister Venezuela has now been suspended.
The competition has announced an internal review into the claims.
Social media storm
The controversy began after an anti-corruption case against the state oil company was launched and a number of people arrested late last year.
Miss Venezuela contestants then came forward and alleged that some women who had taken part in the competition benefited from government corruption.
In response to the allegations on social media and in the regional press, the Miss Venezuela organisation said that it would suspend auditions while an investigation determined whether anyone linked to the competition had "been involved in activities that break with the values and ethics of the event".
A centre which prepares candidates for the competition in the capital Caracas has also been closed.
Venezuela, which is struggling with the world's highest levels of hyperinflation and has a population of just 32m, is one of the most successful countries to participate in international beauty pageants.
The country has seven Miss Universe and six Miss World title winners.

Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado on the Miss Venezuela Pageant Scandal: 'You Saw Strange Things Sometimes'
Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado was a guest on Telemundo’s Un Nuevo Día where she gave her thoughts on the recent Miss Venezuela pageant scandal involving alleged prostitution and government corruption.
On March 21, the Miss Venezuela pageant proceedings were temporarily suspended after accusations surfaced that some of the contestants would perform sexual favors to get wealthy sponsors to pay for aesthetic procedures and designer clothing during the competition for the crown. The scandal also allegedly involves Venezuelan government officials, with some claiming that funds from the state have been used to pay for these illicit activities.
“After the events described recently on social media, in anonymous blogs and by some people related to the Miss Venezuela pageant, we have decided to start an internal investigation,” read a recent statement by the Miss Venezuela Organization. “While this process is developing, the Miss Venezuela headquarters will close its doors and the castings for Miss Venezuela and Mr. Venezuela will be temporarily suspended.”
Machado was interviewed by the morning show’s hosts, Rashel Díaz and Daniel Sarcos, about her experience as Miss Venezuela in 1995 before being crowned Miss Universe in 1996. “Each case is different. Every girl has had a different experience. My experience was different. I won’t deny that you saw strange things sometimes, maybe people who were sponsored by businessmen. I thank God that my parents could help me with their own efforts,” she said.
The Venezuelan actress added that politics in her country has a lot to do with the alleged corruption inside the pageant. “Unfortunately Venezuela has a social and moral distortion and destruction that is a product of the political system that has completely destroyed our country,” she said. “The Miss Venezuela Organization is not the exception.”
Machado shared the panel with former Miss Venezuela Migbelis Castellanos and Venezuelan journalist Ibéyise Pacheco, author of the book Las Muñecas de la Corona(“The Dolls of the Crown”), inspired by what goes on behind the scenes in the beauty pageant world.
Castellanos, who was Miss Venezuela in 2013, said she never had any indecent proposals but admitted that she got invitations to meet with wealthy businessmen who could pay for expensive things she needed for the pageant. Although she turned them down, she adds that she witnessed other contestants received special treatment. “In my year there, you would see a girl get there in public transportation or in a taxi, and three months later that girl had her own car, an apartment, and they came from dubious origins,” she revealed.

Sorry, but Czech Republic was pretty, but she looks too mature. Ada was the favorite since she arrived and had the hightest scores. The top 2 was Ada and Marigona.bonner wrote:reyna_USA wrote:No wonder Osmel left the Org. after many years.

Stefania had the lowest scores and boom she won, I knew that something fishy was going on. Most of us now knows that we were right. We call always Stefania (Stafa) from the Spanish word "estafa" which means "fraud". No wonder she got married in Colombia and now she is a Colombian citizen.

I read somewhere that Stefania said yes to rich politicians for the exchange of sponsors for her wardrobe and trip to Bahamas?
I believe being a mistress to rich politicians or business tycoon is not new to me. Even here it's happening but here it's their choice and not pimp by the organization as in the first place our National Pageants has sponsors but if they are still a candidate they need a sponsors
Mayra Matos also voice out that it's happening in Puerto Rico? Is it true?
