Miss America Dropping Swimsuit Competition

...making an already boring pageant even more boring....

I don't think either one enjoys the popularity they once had, especially Miss America. At work, anytime I mention Miss USA, Miss Universe, or Miss America, most people say "Oh, they still have that?" "It's still on tv?" A few folks are aware of the pageants, but very few.
Miss America has always been geared more towards talent and they give out scholarships. Typically a very boring pageant.

Television ratings for the 2018 Miss America event - the first not to feature a swimsuit section - were way down on previous years.

Since then, Chairperson Gretchen Carlson has stepped aside for other reasons. She drove the decision to drop the swimsuit contest. 

It remains to be seen if consideration will be given to bringing back the bikinis in order to boost audience numbers.
