In this photo from left to right, Miss Universe 1954, Miriam Stevenson, poses in her swimsuit showing her perfect measurements 36-23-36. Miss Brazil, Marta Rocha, who was second drinks a soft drink. In judging beauty contests, the experts look for the ideal form. One of the judges said “2 extra inches on the hips cost Miss Brazil the Miss Universe title.” The judge also said “Miss Brazil’s face was the most gorgeous in the contest.” After a triple tie vote, the judges made the final decision. Miss Stevenson by winning Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe is entitled to 2 convertibles, but “she will not be allowed to keep the 2 cars, that one will go to Miss Rocha.”
