Miss Ukraine Universe (Міс Україна Всесвіт) 2019, the 25th edition of Miss Ukraine Universe pageant, was held on October 24, 2019 at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv in Kiev, Ukraine. 16 contestants competed for the national title this year.

Anastasia Subbota was crowned Miss Ukraine Universe 2019 at the end of the event. Anastasia is 26 years old, stands 1.80 m, and hails from Zaporizhia Oblast. This Ukrainian model speaks 6 languages (Ukrainian, Russian, Mandarin, English, German & French). She will now represent Ukraine at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.

Today the winner of the Miss Ukraine Universe 2019 contest Anastasiia Subbota, who was supposed to represent Ukraine in the most prestigious international pageant - Miss Universe - on December 8 in Atlanta (Georgia, USA), was found not eligible to receive a U.S visa.
In order to participate in the world biggest pageant Miss Universe I am compelled to request the urgent help of The Embassy of the United States of America to Ukraine (U.S. Embassy Kyiv Ukraine ).

Dear Mr. Ambassador, William B.Taylor Jr!

I am compelled to personally request your urgent help.

I am the director and the license holder of the annual highly reputable leading international competition – Miss Universe in Ukraine ( Miss Ukraine Universe)– Anna Filimonova. Miss Universe is an American contest which has been held annually since 1952, whose owner some time ago was Mr. U.S. President Donald Trump. In Ukraine, the selective competition for Miss Universe - Miss Ukraine Universe – has been held since 2005, the founder and the first license holder in Ukraine was Aleksandra Nikolayenko-Ruffin, the wife of the well-known American entrepreneur Phil Ruffin.

On October 24, 2019 the 14th final of selective competition took place in Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv to which we had the honor to invite You, dear Mr. U.S. Ambassador. According to the decision of the competent celebrity jury of judges the victory was got by Anastasiia Subbota who represented the city of Zaporizhzhia. Official information about this event was covered by all Ukrainian media, posted on our official web-site and other electronic sources as well as forwarded to organizing committee of Miss Universe (USA) from which we received an official confirmation letter about participation of Anastasiia Subbota in Miss Universe 2019 competition, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. All the documents and materials were prepared by us and submitted to the organizing committee. We prepared the national costume and other things for participation in the competition.

I would like to note that all the former 13 contestants of Miss Universe were perfectly prepared, had decent reputation, in different years were nominated as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd –Vice Miss Universe and were regularly included into the Top 10, 15, 20 contestants. They have never had any problems with misbehavior and, moreover, with the law, including in the territory of the USA.

Anastasiia Subbota had to submit documents to the U.S. Embassy on November 12, 2019. Due to computer system failure a new date - November 14, 10.30 am was offered to her. She submitted the documents including the official confirmation letter from the organizing committee of Miss Universe (in English), confirmation of our committee - Miss Ukraine Universe (in Ukrainian and in English), certificate from Alfa Bank with cash flow statement for her account (in Ukrainian and in English), documents on ownership of property in Ukraine as well as all the other required documents.

The officer of the U.S. Embassy, who talked to her, asked the purpose of obtaining visa to the USA. Anastasiia, who speaks English fluently, answered his questions in details and passed the official documents. Having looked through the documents, he said that it was not the first time that he received such documents. She kindly asked him to look for the official information on the Internet and official websites. Having checked something in the computer, he issued refusal letter without comments.

I do not want to believe that it was motivated by any other issues than heavy workload on the employee who did not devote additional time to our contestant. I hereby ask Your personal interference in addressing this issue due to the terms for holding Miss Universe 2019 competition: November 28, 2019 - December 8, 2019. According to the rules of the organizing committee Anastasiia Subbota must arrive in the USA on November 27.
