Re: can you translate this in your native tounge...
Pangasinan (Northwest Philippines), one of the 8 major languages (and part of the more than 100 languages) in the Philippines, with the Tagalog (Flipino) translation afterwards:
good morning= Masantos ya kabwasan (Kabwasan ed sika) : Magandang umaga - The one in parenthesis is more politically correct since the first translation has religious roots.
good afternoon= Masantos ya ngarem (Ngarem ed sika) : Good afternoon - The one in parenthesis is more politically correct since the first translation has religious roots.
good evening= Masantos ya labi (Labi ed sika) : Good evening - The one in parenthesis is more politically correct since the first translation has religious roots.
good night= no idea
goodbye= Unlak la : Alis na ako (Both are loose translation. I think there is no equivalent for goodbye. We also use "Adios" since we were colonizes by spain for 300 years.)
thank you= Salamat : Salamat

good morning = hyvää huomenta OR huomenta (good = hyvä, morning = aamu)
good afternoon = hyvää päivää OR päivää (day = päivä, afternoon = iltapäivä)
good evening = hyvää iltaa OR iltaa (evening = ilta)
All these above are formal expressions and are used at work and with strangers. When you meet your friend, you just say Moi or other common greetings..
good night = hyvää yötä OR yötä OR öitä etc... (night = yö)
goodbye = if you want to see again, say..... näkemiin ('til I see you again). If you don't want to see again, and this is a rude way to say it: hyvästi.
thank you = kiitos OR kiitoksia OR kiitti OR tattis
good afternoon = hyvää päivää OR päivää (day = päivä, afternoon = iltapäivä)
good evening = hyvää iltaa OR iltaa (evening = ilta)
