This photo was published on 21st July, two days before the final night. The favourite of the public in the Miss Universe contest is Miss Montana Dawn Oney (left). She received the most applause in preliminary judging at Long Beach, California. She won a trophy as the Most Popular Contestant. Rita Diallina (right), the entry from Greece, is shown as she arrived in New York on her way to Long Beach. Her entry visa was held up for a while by United States immigration officials.
