This photo was published on 10th July, nine days before the final night. Three beautiful candidates for the Miss Universe 1957 pageant to be held in Long Beach, California, on the 19th of this month, were kind enough to smile at the photographer, in New York. They are: from left to right: Miss England, Sonia Hamilton; Miss Germany, Gertu Daub, and Miss Canada, Gloria Noakes. Please do not confuse the latter Miss Canada with Miss Joan Fitzpatrick, recently crowned with the same title, but who is eligible for the Miss America title, while Miss Noakes will be running for votes in the Miss Universe pageant.
