ASPIRING beauty queen Aphrodite Loizou is following in the stiletto-prints of Jennifer Hawkins.
The Doncaster East resident will be strutting her stuff in the Australian finals of the Miss Universe Australia pageant in Sydney next month.
The University of Melbourne student and black belt karate champion entered the competition at the last minute, thinking it would be an exciting opportunity.
“It’s not an opportunity that comes around every day, so I thought it would be worth getting involved in,” Ms Loizou, 22, said.
Migrating from South Africa nine years ago, Ms Loizou said representing Australia in the Miss Universe pageant would take her one step closer to being a “true Aussie”.
Ms Loizou said winning the competition would bring her pride and self-respect, and joy to her family and friends.
“The competition isn’t just about being a pretty face. For me, it is about raising awareness about issues that are important to me, like education and religion, and also about helping people,” she said.
Ms Loizou is studying for a primary teaching degree and has competed at a national level in karate.

i can give u a list with perfect bods............starting with Iveta,Denisa and Mayra.....
She needs work, look at her belly area in the pic she is sitting...and she seems she is trying to hide that area in most of the pics an arm magically appears there.

Its Australia.....last year was worse...i remember a group pic of the girls and than Laura as the winner.Im amazed with them as they have an official site-looking superb- and they never seem to be interested in updating and putting something interesting and informative. All they have is redirection to their facebook channel where there is again zero info. How great.....!

SYDNEY, April 22 – Rachael Finch (20), a TV presenter and model from Townsville, was crowned Miss Universe Australia 2009 during the annual pageant held in Sydney on April 22nd.
The 1.76 m beauty will compete at the Miss Universe 2009 contest in the Bahamas next August.
Originally from Townsville (Queensland), Finch beat more than 7,000 entrants and 31 other finalists to take out the title at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney on Wednesday night.
Ms Finch, who now lives in Alexandria, Sydney, works for Platinum Television, a company that provides video contents for bars and events, and is an ambassador for the Heart Foundation, the event organisers said. Courtesy of News.com.au
