Winning Bb. Aklan was very memorable for me because it opened doors of opportunities. The lessons I learned while growing up were to value one’s family and to take all opportunities one at a time. I also learned to have a positive attitude in the face of failure because without failure, one cannot appreciate success.

One of my memorable experiences occurred after judging a competition in Cebu. My heel’s strap broke and my foot slid right through. It was hilarious, but I remained poised and added it to my list of learning experiences. In life, I‘ve learned to look always on the brighter side, no matter how bad the experience is. After all, I don’t lose anything, but rather gain something that would last me a lifetime.

I treasure the memories of passing my Medical Technology board exams, representing the Philippines in Miss Tourism 2007 in Malaysia, and competing as Miss Antipolo in Miss Philippines-Earth 2008. I’ve learned that there are no shortcuts towards our desired goals. We can only count on God and ourselves.

My dad died when I was still a child and this tremendously changed my growing up years. This huge trial taught me that life is like a gamble. You win some, you lose some. Either way you have to enjoy it since you can’t live with nothing but reality.
