with many comeback countries this year, i'm thinking MUO lowered the starting franchise fee for national pageants... hope they choose a fierce girl for their comeback...

well they had to....NATIONAL DIRECTORS pay much....they dont get results....they possibly wont in the future....the interest is getting lower and lower....MU HAD TO DO SOMETHING CAUSE WHY SHOULD THE OTHER PAY?

but come to think of it, the perks of a Miss Universe is waaaaaaaaaay better than being a MW, MI, ME or MTQI. also, the losing contestants get to take home lotsa freebies and swags! "and memories that'll last for a lifetime" lol, and that's from the starting franchise fee of $5000 before. however, if a country with competitive franchise fee (Venezuela pays $80,000 and the Philippines pay $40,000) doesn't make it, then that's the time it's a loss for the national director.

madame stella pays every 10 years (i heard there is a discount when you pay in bulk, next due in 2012). even though she loses money, she wouldn't let go of the MU franchise because it's the only thing keeping the prestige in her outdated organization.

Miss Universe Romania 2009 will be held on June 27, 2009. The event will be televised live by TVR 1.

The winner will go to Miss Universe 2009.

Romania To Choose Miss Universe Contestant, First Time In 11 Years

Miss Universe Romania 2009, the beauty pageant which will decide Romania’s representative in the international competition selecting the most beautiful woman in the world will be held on June 27 and will be broadcast by the national television station, organizers said Tuesday.

This will be the first time in 11 years that Romania will be able to put forward a contestant for the pageant, which will take place in the Bahamas.

“I am very thrilled that Romania will have a representative this year at Miss Universe,” Paula Shugard, president of the Miss Universe organization, said. “I am certain the local pageant will select a wonderful contestant, who will be a true ambassador of her country,” she added.

Girls all over the country may register for the contest on the official website www.missuniverseromania.com or in the Baneasa Shopping City until June 11. The preliminary selection of the 24 finalists will be held in the Baneasa Shopping City on June 13 and 14.

The national contest’s final round will be held on June 27, 2009, hosted by Valentina Ionescu and will be broadcast live by the Romanian National Television station. Dayana Mendoza, from Venezuela, the winner of Miss Universe 2008, will be a member of the national pageant’s jury. Past winners include actress Daniela Nane (1991) and Chamber of Deputies president Roberta Anastase (1996).

Miss Universe Romania 2009 will be picked from the 24 contestants following several stages, including a round presenting the national garb. The deciding round will be the personality interview, with the jury analyzing the contestants’ psychological balance, personal charm and self confidence, the ability to communicate freely as well as the consistency of the conveyed information.

The score will be computed by summing up the jury’s grades and the public’s votes. Each of these elements accounts for half of the final grade.
