NO Miss Jamaica on Miss Universe 2009..???¡¡¡¡

Pulse Investment Limited's relationship with the Miss Universe pageant has ended.


In a statement sent to The Gleaner, Pulse principal Kingsley Cooper said he contacted the contest's organisers and told them of his company's desire to move on after 20 years.

"Pulse is now much more focused on developing its own events, activities and television titles, and no longer wishes to hold franchises from others," the company said in the statement to Annette Cammer, director of International pageants at Miss Universe.

Enhancing Fashionweek

The annual Caribbean Fashionweek and Caribbean Model Search, are two of the events Pulse says it will focus on enhancing.

Pulse first promoted the Miss Jamaica Universe contest in 1989 when it was won by Sandra Foster, who went on to place sixth in the Miss Universe event in Mexico.

Kimberley Mais, the 1991 winner, was fourth in the contest in Las Vegas that year.

Two other Miss Jamaica Universe winners, Nicole Haughton and Christine Straw, also reached the Miss Universe finals.

Apparently, there will be a Miss Jamaica Universe 2009 still according to the Jamaican Star Forum.
