Miss Universe 2009 to visit India

New Delhi, June 30 (PTI) Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez is slated to visit India from July first week as part of a social campaign to spread awareness about AIDS and female infanticide.

The 20-year-old will tour various states of the country from July 6 to July 11 during which she will visit slums, hospitals and orphanages as part of the campaign.

"Although we have not finalised the states that will be included in the campaign, we are most likely to visit Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Delhi as incidents of infanticide are high in these states," fashion designer Sanjana Jon, who is organising the tour, said.

Fernandez will also be supporting a 'Get Tested' campaign, urging people to take the HIV test.

The initiative has been taken by IG International of which Sanjana is a founding member.
