Miss Bahamas World 2008 - Tinnyse Johnson

Who could forget 2008? If you were Bahamian or non, 2008 was a year to remember in pageantry. MBO really raised the level of contestants this year and we saw quite a few stunners. But, the girl that stood out the most was Tinnyse Johnson. Already, riding off of the controversy of her entry (she actually placed 1st runner up to Miss Grand-Bahama World Kerel Pinder in a prelim pageant to Miss Bahamas World, was escorted out of the Miss Bahamas Universe pageant (a HUGE loss for Gaynelle), and then won Miss Bahamas World) Tinnyse already proved to be a force to be reckoned with. Whatever the force was no one can deny that she possessed the qualities of an international beauty queen contender, whether you loved her or hated her. Right after she won Miss Bahamas World, Global Beauties named her the TOP contender for the Miss World Caribbean Queen of Beauty Title. With her exotic looks, fierce pictures, lean yet curvy figure (Wow! What a Body!) and soft caramel complexion.....many were convinced that finally, finally the Bahamas would have it's second Caribbean Queen Title (possibly first Miss World). Even the bookmakers were convinced and held her in high betting positions.

She was also sent to Puerto Rico for training and conquered the Puerto Rican public who fell in love with this exotic Bahamian beauty with the chameleon looks (in some pics Tinnyse looked like a Latina). Upon her arrival in South Africa at the Welcome Dinner and Introduction of the Delegates, dressed in a stunning pink evening gown (Tinnyse's wardrobe was AMAZING!!!!!) She WOWED the audience and received the greatest applause and cheers from the South African people who were now convinced that this girl wasn't just a photoshopped beauty. Global Beauties and other notable pageant websites placed her in their top 5 list. Yet as the pageant went on, Tinnyse, lost her focus, and she fell off of the radar. Some felt that she wasn't able to handle the spotlight, others criticized her and demised her fall, many were still rooting for her and hoped that she would pick up momentum. Many theories circulated and alas a story surfaced. She fell ill, and was also having problems with essentials (essentials meaning wardrobe and grooming tools). However, she looked stunning during the fashion show and had one of the best (if not the best catwalks seen) and also during finals night. Many, still had hope and even down to the calling of the last candidate people still screamed her name because they wanted her to be called. Well you know how the story goes, she wasn't called, but the buzz, media attention, controversies and PR tactics that she gave caused the world to turn eyes to the Bahamas. The Miss World Organization dubbed her Beautiful and were "rooting for her as well".

After Miss World, Tinnyse continued her reign and was invited to Model in several big international events. It was there that she found her calling. After giving up her crown, Tinnyse went into modelling full time and is doing big things in North America and the Caribbean. Despite what people think.....she paved the way for Joanna and will be remembered as a remarkable Bahamian Beauty!

I still love her,whatever happened now is History. The main problem for me is she was looking exhausted and pale the most of the time.The final days she tried to speed up and cover the gap but i think it was late.

Same here Tidus......I really thought Tinnyse had it in the bag, she was the most promising Miss Bahamas to date...not saying that the others weren't of high standards, they are....but Tinnyse really captured everyone's attention....I wish her all the best!
