California —- On August 21, 2010, the most exciting 22nd Annual Miss Asia USA/Mrs. Asia USA Cultural Pageant was held at La Mirada Performing Arts Theatre, La Mirada, CA. 23 candidates representing the countries of the Asian Continent competed for the ‘Miss Asia USA 2010′ title in La Mirada, near Los Angeles, California.

The candidates wore the beautiful creations from the designs of Scala and Malibu Dream Girl Swimwear.
The prestigious event has ‘World Vision’ as the charitable recipient for this year’s pageant. The Miss Asia USA Pageant is the premiere Cultural Pageant participated in by Asian women in the United States, who trace their ancestry to the 58 countries considered part of the Asian continent.
The 22th Annual Miss Asia USA 2010 Cultural Pageant presented 23 delegates representing a majority of the countries in the Asian continent including three representing the Philippines to display their cultural beauty and the sociability of their country. Through this celebration of Beauty, Culture, Elegance, and Talent – Miss Asia USA aims to unite the 58 countries of the Asian continent.
For the past 22 years, Asian women from all over the United States, between the ages of 17-28, gather in the name of friendly competition to vie for the coveted title, Miss Asia USA title. The Pageant promotes leadership, personal and professional growth, enhances social skills, confidence and stage presence, strengthens cultural values and camaraderie.
In addition to the rigorous rehearsals in preparation of the pageant, the delegates go through a series of rigorous training workshops. They include workshops in poise, walking and modeling, public speaking, dining etiquette, fashion and wardrobe coordination, goal setting, health and fitness.
The Delegate will not only be an epitome of beauty and intelligence, but a reflection of the unity and sociability of her country. The title is earned through hard work and demonstration of self confidence, intelligence, beauty and elegance. Miss Asia USA Cultural Pageant displays the rich ethnic diversity of our society and gives us a glimpse into the multitudes of cultures that surrounds us today.
The lavish parade of the National Costumes, grace and elegance of the Evening Gown Competition, and the sensational Swimsuit Competition create an atmosphere of excitement, surpassing the audience’s expectation, time and time again. The pomp and pageantry of this even extend throughout the year for the reigning Miss Asia USA – The Ambassador of Culture and Goodwill. The Queen will grace a myriad of special public appearances to promote culture and goodwill. The 2010 Miss Asia USA was hosted by Michelle Phong Thao and David Milburn.

People’s Choice award went to Crystal Shin (Korea)
Community Service Award of Excellence went to Saghar Sadri (Iran)
Miss Asia candidates are scored by the selected panel of judges according to four criteria:
1) Interview – the panel of judges spent time asking each of the candidates their talents, goals in life, ambitions. The judges focused on the candidates’ poise, charisma, self-confidence and her communication ability. (August 20, 2010)
2) National Costume – the scoring will be from 80 – 100 points based on creativity, authenticity, color, and presentation. (August 20, 2010)
3) Best in Swimsuit – the candidates will wear similar designed swimsuit provided by Malibu Swimwear and will score the candidates based on confidence, physical fitness, execution of movement, and energy. (Pageant night, August 21, 2010)
4) Evening Gown – judging will be based on overall appearance, confidence, poise, elegance, and sophistication of movement as well as style and queenly attributes. The choice of gown design, elegance and grandeur are also taken into consideration. (Pageant night, August 21, 2010)
KPMG Forensic Department, the world’s largest accounting firm, is the official tabulator for Miss Asia USA and has tabulated the pageant for the past 7 years. The Pageant is produced by Virgelia Productions, Inc. which also operates Mrs. Asia USA, Miss Teen Asia USA and Miss Latina Global.
Outgoing Miss Asia USA 2009 Queen Geramie Dizon bade farewell to the Miss Asia USA crown and stated on the pageant website “NEVER say you CAN’T because you ALWAYS know you CAN!”
