Miss Universe 1974, Amparo Munoz Quesada, 56, died in her home in Malaga last Sunday according to her brother Pedro Munoz who told Agencia EFE. The beauty queen and actress, who was crowned at the Folk Arts Theater during the 1974 Miss Universe Pageant in Manila, has been suffering from a lingering illness and has tried to avoid the public for years. The family decided to keep her funeral private according to her brother.

She has married thrice and all ended in divorce. She became an instant celebrity in Spain after being procaimed Miss Universe and has starred alongside Nino Bravo, Pedro Carrasco, Rocio Durcal, Camilo Sesto, Rocio Durcal and manu popular Spanish celebrities of the 1970s.

In 1979, Muñoz acted in the comedy Mama Turns 100. This was followed by performances in 1982′s Todo un Hombre (He’s all a Man), 1999′s A Paradise Under the Stars and 2003′s El Tahur.

In the late-1990s, she returned to the mainstream Spanish cinema with the movie Familia, by Fernando León de Aranoa and started a new life as an actress.
