on miss world - kirkland's perspective

i have (what may seem 'crazy' to many reading this) a direct question in as much as the miss world pageant is concerned....it's safe to say that the less than impartial julia morely (in my estimation) uses the intrigue of a global event, the hope and dreams of each competing country and support systems and willingness of host countries to showcase their states to the world all to her advantage while profiting heavily on this staged event... year after year contestants lodge the same complains about julia's favouritism and lack of integrity at the pageant (inclusive of claims of pimping)....these claims seem to fall on deaf ears time after time in the absence of scoring systems, credibility of a wide cross section of judges, transparency of each fast track event; how the hell is a miss world determined anyway? donald trump may be the most celebrated pimp on the planet BUT at least there is 'some' transparency at miss universe...this year i feel some girl who NOBODY even saw coming will once again win the coveted title of miss world - i suppose my questions are:

* what makes or breaks a contestant at miss world?
* does beauty really count in the end?
* with such a bad reputation why do we still approach the pageant as a fair staging by encouraging our most beautiful women to compete?
* how subjective is this pageant to julia's personal taste?
* how credible is the scoring at miss world?

My thoughts

* what makes or breaks a contestant at miss world? Makes=Innocent Petite regal elegant looks and attitude, breaks = sex kittens,agressive attitudes,too fierce and poised
* does beauty really count in the end? As it seems sometimes is not enough for Julia....she needs more....namely class,elegance,manners and some descent studies....
* with such a bad reputation why do we still approach the pageant as a fair staging by encouraging our most beautiful women to compete? because the money behind miss world are alot......
* how subjective is this pageant to julia's personal taste? totally subgective....Jaqueline,Irene,Unnur,Azra,the girl from Peru, Zhan, even Tatana in a bnlonde version...share the same characteristics.....and aura......coincidence?
* how credible is the scoring at miss world? we will never know.....

my answers to your questions...
1. julia's taste and her personal interests.
2. with a few exceptions, most MW winners (i think) were beautiful.
3. traditions are hard to forget. countries will still send girls to MW until the organization files for bankruptcy or there is total loss of interest with the pageant.
4. with julia at the helm of the judging panel, of course the final results will always be swayed by her personal preference
5. there were some very questionable winners... and all i could say was "hocus pocus."

very interesting feedback! i tend to agree with you tidus and bubbles and as such will not put my hopes very high for my queen even though in my heart she is truly deserving...tinnyse isn’t a demure beauty and easily come across as a sex kitten and is almost edgy in her aura! i suppose this was a concern of mine from the start...with that said, will the beautiful ukrainian girl be this year's equivalent to ada of last year? she has the same qualities.... afro

true!!!! thats my worry for Tynnise....and as u said me too find her deserving. The girl from Ukraine has another advantage too right now......with the pageant held to Ukraine it would be hard for another host countrie's victory as china last year...now with the pageant held in south Africa and many Ukranians who are in the "lobby" being unsatisfied with Julias decision to relocate the pageant.......she is one step closer to the crown then any other finalist......just my opinion.

and dont forget last years miss Jamaica and dominican republic......perfect examples.....they may enter a top 20...but thats all....

i found last years miss jamaica to be a little too townboyish and lacking polish...as for miss dr i was sure whe would win...what a gorgeous girl!
