Photo reveals Lady Gaga’s outfit for President Obama meeting

After collaborating with Lady Gaga for years, jewelry designer Rodrigo Otazu is accustomed to witnessing some unusual moments. He was there for the origin of the meat dress, he handcrafted her false diamond teeth, and he was one of the only people to document the outfit she wore to meet President Obama at a no-photos-allowed fundraising event on September 25.
“She was wearing 16-inch heels,” Obama told reporters after the run-in. “She was eight feet tall. It was a little intimidating.” The press pool said that she added a black veil and a bouffant hairstyle to complete the look, but no one was able to see the evidence until this rarely-seen photo surfaced. "When she went to see President Obama, she was wearing one of my necklaces and earrings and she looked like the character from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,'" says Otazu. She took inspiration from the classic Audrey Hepburn character for this meeting (actually, this would be her second recent interpretation), and he says she has also mentioned Elizabeth Taylor as a style favorite.
There’s one big difference between Gaga and Elizabeth Taylor’s tastes, though. "Lady Gaga doesn't like diamonds. She doesn't know where they come from and so she says she doesn't want them," says Otazu, who has accessorized her with Swarovski crystal creations for everything from red carpets to Yankee games. She paired his jewelry with her meat dress at the MTV Video Music Awards.
"The idea for that meat dress was born during a shoot for Japan 'Vogue' and we decided to escalate it and make it more dramatic," says Otazu, who has archived many of their collaborations on his Facebook page.

On Wednesday, Lady Gaga showed off his work with a more unusual accessory. She premiered a "director's cut" of her Paris Fashion Week film with Thierry Mugler designer Nicola Formichetti and in it, Lady Gaga transformed herself with the help of some striking false teeth. What is being called her "diamond" smile -- a gap-toothed grin created from two marquis shaped Swarovski crystals -- was the result of Otazu’s last-minute scramble.

"I got a phone call: 'Gaga wants teeth,'" says Otazu. "I had been asked for many things, but not for teeth and I only had a weekend to do it."
Otazu scrambled to fashion several models of teeth. The alternatives included a set with pave crystals, another with filigree crystals and one made out of crystal hearts "that looked too much like a vampire." The one-of-a-kind creations are priceless and all of Lady Gaga's false teeth are now stored in Otazu's bedside table.
Otazu is currently planning his next creation with Lady Gaga, who has yet to stump him with a request. "There is no such thing as impossible. If we can make diamond teeth in a weekend, it is possible," he says. "As long as I have 24 hours."
Lady Gaga is sure to sparkle at the upcoming "Decade of Difference" concert, benefiting the charitable work of former President Bill Clinton. Watch it live only on Yahoo! starting at 7 p.m. PT on October 15.
