Amelia Vega, former Miss Universe 2003 and Dominican singer married compatriot and NBA player Al Horford today 24th Dec (US Datezone) , according reports.

The civil ceremony was held at the home of the Vega’s uncle, also an award-winning Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, and his wife Nora Vega.

According to Press reports the wedding was held on Saturday since the NBA’s 2011-2012 season begins on Sunday after being shortened due to a lengthy lockout.

Amelia Vega Polanco (born November 7, 1984 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) became the first and only Dominican woman to be named Miss Universe, in 2003. At the age of 18, she was the youngest winner since 1994

After passing the title on to her successor, the Dominican living in Miami opened two exclusive clothing stores there, hosted television programs and this year launched her first album, “Agua Dulce” (Fresh Water).

Vega is as well concentrated on the development of her business career. She owns a two Boutiques in Miami, Florida where she resides, named "Essence By Amelia Vega" located at 78 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables FL, 33134 and prepares to be involved on developing her career and stores.

Vega is on the cover of the only book the Miss Universe Organisation has published, which is called Universal Beauty. Donald Trump named her his favorite Miss Universe ever, he even mentioned her in one of his books.

Alfred Joel Horford Reynoso (born June 3, 1986) is a Dominican professional basketball player who is a center and power forward for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was an All-Star in the previous two NBA seasons. Horford played college basketball for the University of Florida, and was the starting center on the Florida Gators teams that won back-to-back NCAA national championships in 2006 and 2007. He also plays for the Dominican Republic national team.

Horford, 25, has played his three NBA seasons with the Hawks, where he averaged 12 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Before turning professional, the Dominican player led the University of Florida to two NCAA titles in 2006 y 2007.

Horford is a member of the Nike basketball brand. Horford appeared in a music video for Ciara's song Never Ever. Horford had formerly, dated Dominican supermodel Ada Aimeede la Cruz.

He used to date before Dominican Republic's 1st r u in Miss Universe 2009, Ada De La Cruz.

I guess he likes universal queens, but from his country.
