I grew up from the Northern part of Luzon, small town in Isabela province. Life there is very simple yet hard. Simple in a way that you can survive without money as long you are hardworking and knows how to appreciate the little things.

Hard, because you have to deal with the wild grasses and animals everyday day, wake up as early as you can so you can get a free ride to the farm or to the forest. What you do is exactly what you could only have. So you
really have to do make such effort to get enough. I remember myself hiding underneath the sacks so I am able to get to the farm with the farmers and so when I get there they can't send me home anymore cause it was too far.

I collect all the fruits that they have left and bring it home to my grandmother. I grew up with a tough love, my mother is unlike other who will spoil their grandchildren. Her law is when you really want something, you have to show how much really wanted it, you have to show effort that you are not taking things for granted. I remember when I wanted a new slipper I went to the farm alone and climbed the tree to get some mangoes to sell to our neighbors and yes, I got a new slippers! After that, my friends and I used to swim in the river every afternoon. I was 6. And I can't forget how my slippers went with the fast running water while I was trying to save myself from slipping to that muddy bamboo bridge.

It was the first time that I got really hurt.I followed those slippers but it was too late, it went straight to the closed drainage. I was left alone till i reached the night hoping that my slippers will appear again.Then I went home.I forgot that my grandmother will be so worried about me cause all the kids went back home already.Then as expected, I fell asleep right after I got beaten. I got beaten cause I didn't explain what happened. I just cried when she asked me where I've been.I am really bad in telling what I feel. I always cover it with tears. I wanted to but I was scared that she will get mad even more.

I turned 8 then I was in grade school, I remeber how my classmates treated me like their personal butler. I'm always asked to buy some food for them because the school canteen is a bit far from our classroom. I don't do it because I want them to treat me like that, I do it because they will give me a part of what I have bought. I needed them. Grade 4 when myteacher caught me stealing an ice candy from the school canteen cause I never had money going to school, and if I'll have one, I'd rather buy some papers and pen, I used pencil while my classmates used pens. I was really happy when one time we are the one set to clean the room and found a pen which is not really working properly but i know I can fix it. The next morning the recognized it and got it back because she said it was hers and she's been looking for it.. I felt bad about that. But I wasn't mad at her. I was mad at myself cause I know I could have one but I didn't want to ask my grandmother who was just a "Jueteng collector"besides, she'll just get mad if i ask. I didn't have a friend, they didn't wanna get near me. I felt discriminated.They always put me on the invalid chairs at the back.I was really bad on spilling out things that I want. And when I badly need a pen for the exams, I often use my teachers pen when no one wants to lend me some pens. Then I got used to that.I didn't care about them anymore, after all that's what I wanted, to be invisible.

After school classes before I am able to play out, Our house has a rule. I have to leave the house clean and the water containers must be filled with water. So I used to walk home early so I could finished them earlier and then I could play earlier. It was the best part of each day that is passing in my life. Playing. There I burst out my emotions, jumping with joy and enjoying even just a little of my childhood life. After playing I used to lay down on the grass, watching the clouds, creating images in my mind,Flying in my fantasy world. Dreaming awake. Asking myself how does it feel to be floating in the wind. Then while gazing at the clouds, I saw a lil kite, really really small. I knew it was too high and too far. I liked it. I wanted to have one.

The next day, I decided to make my own. I grabbed some plastic bags, some coconut leaves then string and neddles. The first kite that I made didn't wanna fly, it is made of 2 wings and a tail. I didn't understand that how could it not fly while it has two wings and a very long tail? I ran and ran till it fly till the wings stripped off from its body and started to fly. Then I ran till I get to the farm. I was so overjoyed. It was one of my happy memories that I will never forget. Then it became my routine, every after school I fly my kite alone in the farm. Not until one windy day. I was so excited to fly my kite because i don't have to run anymore to fly the kite. I let the string go till it reaches the end. I realized when I look at the kite it it was flying abnormally, the kite keeps on turning round and round. I knew it was too much of wind so I put the strings back but it was too late, the kite flew away alone. And I tried to run where it goes, but it went to the forest, and the leaves of the tree destroyed my kite. Another heartbreak.

Then came High School, I got a 50% scholarship from the government with the help of the school. I was excited, my world is getting bigger. I see a lot of new faces and new hope.I was expecting for a change. Everyone has it's own circle. Some is just contented palying games from their phones and gadgets. Till the classes started and we were grouped and formed our family-to-be. I call it a new family cause you will be together for a year perhaps 4 years until graduation. From that moment on when we first entered the classroom, I knew nothing will be new. Maybe faces and names but my state of being nothing will always be nothing. Atleast they don't see me even if I am around. They didn't even remember what my name was until 2nd year. Back then, I knew that the problem is in me not them.

2nd year High school. The most memorable moment of my life. My dreams died. My grandmother passed away. She left me all alone. That moment I started blaming God, about all the misfortunes and heartaches.I started blaming everone
around me. How could fate be so hard to me. Everything changed after that. I became stronger and curious. Being observant is one of the things that became my habit. I started to rule myself. I promised myself that I will start loving myself more than anything, anybody else cause I got no one who will do.

I went to college, decided to move my ass out of theprovince from the wilderness to the city. Then here the big world right in front of me. I thought it was simple. Go to the city then life will be fun. Ofcourse it is! Very exciting,full of dramas, challenges and surpsises. I didn't know that the world was this big. Then I started to live with it. I slept 2days and 2night in the bus terminal while trying to figure out my plans. I got so hungry, I thought I could just work with some strangers on their foodstalls then they will lend me food like I used to do in the province. I found myself watching the two lovers eating and didn't finish their food. I wanted to ask for it but I didn't wanna feel self pity. Then I cried. Then a gay approached me, asked why i was crying. THen I was so desperate enoughto tell him I have no where to stay. Then It was ok for him. They took care of me, him and his mother. They fed me. They gave me life. And so my career in modelling and some money making have started. I was a no big time ramp model who earns enough. Til i get to adapt the life in this big city life. Then a lot of more things followed. From the day that I lost my new slippers cause I was too much scared that it will fall down from the river, I didn't regret that i lost it, it made me tougher.From the time I was being treated by my classmates like a butler,I'm thankful to them, cause they just missed that experienced, that made me even wiser. And for the discrimination, they gave me a momentum on how to be more special. For my grandmother,thanks for leaving me with enough strength to face the world. Now I know why you were like that. To that kite, that made me feel calm and satisfied my imagination, kites are like us humans, sometimes we do something wrong which we know will lose someone important, we still try due to curiosity and excitement. The string which is weak represents the foundation of trust and love. And I believe that death isn't something
that we should feel sorry about, instead it's a bittersweet gift from God.

We cry because we will miss them but we should be thankful cause they are done of the world's despair. And up to now still learning and learning from my experiences and from other people.From everything around. From the people passing by the streets, from the wonderful sites, man made or nature. Be observant and you'll find answers to your questions little by little.

Candidate no. 10 is Jillean Camille Manibog Orbina. Jill as she is fondly called by her family and friends is 20 years old and an AB Mass Communications student at Philippine Women's University. She stands at 5 feet and 8 inches tall, representing the province of Isabela. She was 2nd runner-up at Mutya ng Taguig 2011.

Jill's father is half Mexican and her mom has a Japanese blood. She's been living independently and had some experiences on runway projects and photo shoots. Jill loves to sing which is evident at the Talent Competition where she sang "Torete".
