MISS WORLD 2012 - AFRICA

The Beautiful continent of Africa has been sending stunning and sometimes unconventional beauties to Miss World to represent some of it's Nations.

The last time an African country won the Miss World crown was in 2001, when Nigeria's Agbani Darego impressed everyone at Sun City, South Africa and became the first winner from Africa of African descent.

After Nigeria's win in 2001, No other African country was able to penetrate in top 5 for the coming years untill in 2005 when Miss World changed it's format and Tanzania's Nancy Sumari reached top 6


After 2005, Africa has maintained it's presence amongst the top 6 finalists with the following contestants:


2006 - Angola's Stiviandra Oliveira - Top 6
2007 - Angola's Micaela Reis - 1st Runner up
2008 - Angola's Brigith dos Santos - Top 6
2009 - South Africa's Tatum Keshwar - 2nd Runner up
2010 - Botswana's Emma Wareus -1st Runner up
2011 - South Africa's Bonkang Montjane - Top 6

This year Africa has returned back strong with high number of contestants from it's continent.
Three African countries are making their debuts in Miss World - Equatorial Guinea, Gabon & South Sudan
Five countries are returning back - Seychelles (last competed in 2008), Angola, Ethiopia, Malawi and Zambia (all last competed in 2010).
While four countries have withdrawn - Egypt, Ghana, Liberia and Namibia

South Africa on the other hand just has the sash of the country otherwise she would have not been noticeable if she was coming from some other country

Lovely thread. Africa is strong this year and I love African beauties...they always have a soft spot in my heart. To answer your questions:

1) Yes, it will contiue and I'd love to see a winner from Africa this year!

2) There are a lot of incredibly stunning women vying for the title of Miss World Africa, so I think it could go to South Africa, South Sudan, Angola, Gabon, Seychelles, Tanzania

3) Hmm, so hard to pick a favorite from that group...here are my favorite ladies from Africa (in random order):

Seychelles (gorgeous and love her smile and energy), Tanzania (stunning from head to toe...wish she had more time to prepare for the pageant and Im sure she would have killed it), Gabon (elegant, gracious, gorgeous), South Sudan (gorgeous and precious), Equatorial Guinea (beautiful and seems to have an amazing personality)
