Road to Miss Universe Vietnam 2014

On the last day of 2013, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People Committee and Hoan Vu Saigon Joint Stock Company (Unicorp) – the license holder of Miss Universe Organization in Vietnam – reached an agreement designating Nha Trang City as the host city of Miss Universe Vietnam 2014 pageant. The winner of this pageant will represent Vietnam in the prestigious Miss Universe 2014 beauty pageant, probable to be held in Brazil in late 2014.

According to the organizing board, the preliminary rounds will take place in Hanoi, Nha Trang, and Ho Chi Minh City between June and September 2014. Sixty five candidates will be chosen to compete in the semi-final in Nha Trang City. The finale will be held at the Crown Convention Center of the famous Diamond Bay Resort & Golf.

The total expenditure for organizing the pageant amounts up to VND15 billion. The winner of Miss Universe Vietnam 2014 will walk away with VND200 million cash prize. The first and second runners-up will receive VND100 million each. In addition, there will be five special awards worth of VND20 million each for Miss Ao Dai, Miss Photo, Miss Sport, etc.

Unicorp has filed its formal application to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for license to organize the said pageant.

There has been only one Miss Universe Vietnam pageant held in 2008 when Vietnam hosted the Miss Universe pageant. Thuy Lam was the only Miss Universe Vietnam crowned. In recent years, Unicorp appointed Vietnam’s representatives to the annual Miss Universe pageants.

Miss Universe Vietnam 2013 is Truong Thi May. She competed in Miss Universe 2013 in Moscow but did not place.

Ive seen this picture somewhere that she was a big favorite for Miss Universe Vietnam?? is it true ?
