According to Global Beauties, there will be a "Miss Latina Universe" who will compete at Miss Universe. The winner will be chosen through a Telemundo reality show.

The Winner of Telemundo’s new Reality-Show will go straight to compete in Miss Universe 2014

MIAMI, April 25 — Reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler, from Venezuela, was one of many celebrities walking the red carpet at the annual Latin Billboard Awards held in Miami on April 24th. The event, televised by Telemundo (affiliate of NBC/Universal) recognizes the contribution of latino artists to the international scene.

During the ceremony, Isler confirmed the realization of “Miss Latina Universe”: A new reality-type beauty pageant to be presented by Telemundo, and whose winner will represent the Latino community in the 2014 Miss Universe pageant.

The project, originally called “Miss Latina USA” was renamed to “Miss Latina Universe” to allow the participation of contestants from all over the American Continent and Spain, who will wear the “Latina Universe” sash at the Miss Universe pageant. It is the first time that such a special participation will be allowed.

Telemundo will soon confirm the dates of airing of the reality-show, expected to take place during the late summer. The Miss Universe Organization has not announced yet the date and host country of the 2014 edition. This information might be made public during the Miss USA 2014 telecast to take place in Baton Rouge on June 8th.

I can see it now......top 5: Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Latina Universe, USA, and random European, Philippines, or Australia.

Terrible idea....if they have Latina Universe, why not Asian Universe, African Universe, European Universe......

It would be best to "Miss Universe" renamed their competition in "Miss American Continent and guests". Rolling Eyes

A guest list that looks like this:
1.Miss Asia - The Philippines
2.Miss Afrika - South Africa
3.Miss Oceania - Australia
4.Miss Europe - Kosovo.

Really pisses me off that there is no more competition for the Miss Europe.

I agree!!! It's a STUPID idea, each country is represented, what's the use of the miss Latina, it's like destroying the original concept!!

I'm Latino and I think this is ridiculous!

Trump obviously wants higher ratings from us and publicity, but this squanders the pageants prestige! I'm confused to what the winner will represent, but if she does represent Latin America as a whole, I suggest that they allow regional groups to compete as well like Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania etc...

if this turns out successful, I see a lot of boycotts in 2015 coming, and I sense that the winner will be bullied by the other contestants at MU!

Trump is seriously digging his own grave by doing this

guests??ahahhaah OMG that was so funny yet again so true! if they want to play this card i.e. miss latina universe all other countries shouldnt not enter for a year and then see if they like it!

So every year there will be a top 16 of: Miss USA, Miss Latina, 6-7 Latinas , Albania, Kosovo... that is a total of 12 countries...so 4 spots left for Asia, Europe and Oceania!!! ....Why bother????????? Evil or Very Mad

But the thing is , how to make the pageant BIG in Europe again? Here in Sweden the news/media doesn´t even cover our national pageant anymore.....We need a top 6 for us to make the pageant big here again.
I can understand Mr Trump-he want´s money from his investment, and Miss Universe is big in Latinamerica-that´s where the money is. I prefer a Lovely Latina instead of a political choise every time.

You're not the only one..I have been beyond disappointed by the past few editions. not necessarily in terms of their winners, but more in terms the overall production, the very obvious Trump picks and the politics behind it. The Latina Universe idea is ridiculous and I really hope a lot of the national directors will complain to the MUO about that.

Strong rumors are circulating that Miss Latina Universe has been cancelled and all the contestants were sent home since a Latina-American won the Miss USA 2014 pageant and many of the national directors were against the idea! This has been confirmed by the national director of MU Spain along with many other sources, but still no official announcement!

Just saw this.....

Miss Latina Universo has been postponed indefinitely.

The competition would have been a hallmark, promising the winner a direct path to the 2015 Miss Universe.

It was slated to premiere on Telemundo on June 15, hosted by TV personalities ...Raul Gonzalez and Rashel Diaz.

“Following extensive national auditions and a rigorous pre-selection process, ‘Miss Latina Universo’ will introduce a group of beautiful women who meet the criteria for participating in ‘Miss Universe.’ In accordance with the rules established by this international pageant, the participants will compete to win the audience’s support, regardless of their heritage,” the network said in the announcement.

“A pool of judges composed of celebrities with extensive experience in the world of entertainment and fashion, as well as judging beauty competitions, will guide the contestants but, ultimately, the winner will be chosen by the audience vote. After the first elimination, a group of 14 candidates will live together 24/7 and participate in a demanding Academy program until one of them is crowned as the first ‘Miss Latina Universo.’”

But sources told Latin Times that the show has been postponed for unspecified reasons. #MissUNiverse #HJBLOG
