Imaya Liyanage, a 23-year-old law entrance student and an emerging model from Wennappuwa was adjudged Derana Veet Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Earth 2014 at the grand finale held at Citrus Hotel, Waskaduwa over the weekend. In addition, she also won the Miss Sunday Observer title decided on a popularity poll conducted by our sister paper Sunday Observer. It was the first time in the nine-year-old history of the Dearana-Veet Miss Sri Lanka contest that the same contestant won both titles. Shanika Chamini, 24, and Teena Fernando, 21, emerged first and second runners up. Daily News and Sunday Observer were the print media partners of the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Earth 2014.
