Miss Peru, Gladys Zender (centre), is still Miss Universe 1957 despite a controversy over whether she would be disqualified after reigning one day when it was disclosed she is not yet 18 years old. She is shown as she arrived late for the coronation ball accompanied by officer Frank Hainley and her hostess, Mrs. Roy J. Miller.
