Well, it's a bigger chance for us European. Last time just France made it and in 2015 just Belgium and France.

I agree with you on that but considering that there are some MUO picks, I wonder why they can't get a fair representation. They could have easily picked more Europeans last year and in 2015.Wojtek wrote:bonner wrote:]size=18]

If there will be a Wild card from Europe I want to see either Slovak Rep, Israel or maybe Finland?

Re: ®®MISS UNIVERSE 2017 - OFFICIAL COVERAGE®®
Some inside scoop/rumor/interesting T:
The other day was the meeting of the National Directors and some interesting information (allegedly) was revealed. Take this as you will. It's in Spanish, but I will translate:
English:Yesterday was meeting of the national directors with Miss Universe Organization President, Paula Shugart. The following information was revealed to me by two people who are in Las Vegas, but would still be good to corroborate with others to make sure it is not fake news. We don't know what to believe in this day and age.
Miss Shugart started the meeting explaining the reasons why they (MUO) changed the format of picking the finalists. Allegedly, she was very emphatic and direct in signaling that the Organization is looking for different/new countries (than those that are usually called) to be semifinalists and to hopefully win.
She argued that IMG wants to amplify their influence and the Miss Universe brand, especially to those countries that have clapped for a long time, and for those who may have been called as semi-finalist but have never won, or have been waiting many years for their second crown. This has become very evident with the latest triumph of Colombia, Philippines, and France.
With this information, if we look at the current favorites for the crown, it won't be surprising if the winners of the crown will be Peru, Brazil, or Canada from the Americas, Spain from Europe, or South Africa or Indonesia from the Africa/Asia region.
The same will be expected when they call the semifinalists: expect to see new countries being called or countries that have not been called in a long time. Cambodia, Guyana, Sri Lanka are said to be strong considerations.
They say in the meeting that many National Directors, particularly the Latino ND's, formally expressed their disagreement with the new format to the Organization.
The other news that came out was that for 2018, Miss Universe will be held sometime between September and November. There are two locations currently on the table: Lima (Peru) and Bogota (Colombia).
-----------------
Of all the rumors about this year's edition, I think this is the most credible rumor.
If we look how IMG has operated since they've taken over, iIt would make sense that IMG wants other countries to win, whether its countries that have never won, or countries that have not won in years. They want to expand their brand as far and wide as possible. They want to justify the reason why ND's pay an exorbitant amount of fees to join Miss Universe, because they will actually have a chance to finally make it.
Also, once IMG took over, look at their winners: Philippines who haven't won since the 1970s and France, who haven't won since the 1950s (even though BOTH countries did exceptionally well their respective years).
This is why I do think this year its going to be Thailand, South Africa, or maybe even a new country that has never won before (Iceland?).
What do you guys think?

Australia's thighs are huge!
Germany has a very beautiful face, but her body is not in a best form.
Finland is so stiff on stage!
Puerto Rico got a great walk!
I really don't get what you can see in Slovak Rep, very average

Re: ®®MISS UNIVERSE 2017 - OFFICIAL COVERAGE®®
South Africa has really bad body. Angola is best African or maybe Nigeria, but I vote for Angola, she has better body.
Russia is the best European girl. But Slovak is also gorgeous. Albania has very good body. Germany is beautiful face with few kg over. France is cute face nothing more. Poland is solid conteneder, she has pretty face and great body. Iceland body is bad in my opinion, her face is gorgeous.
I like Israel and Lebanon but their stage prsentation is not memorable.
Canada and Australia are big disappointments, Canada with her ..well I didn't like anything , and Australia has big legs, and in general not worth of top 16.
Peru is gorgeous, I would love if she win. Mexico is amazing body and plain face. Nicaragua and Paragay also have good bodies. Colombia is overrall great, nothing extraordinary, but since year is weak she did stand out. Brazil is okish. Hoduras is good. Jamaica is beautiful.
Thailand is looking great. Vietnam and Korea are good, no WOW but they are good. Philippines is good body and plain face. Indonesia has great body as well but her face is just ok, better than Philippines but still not my cup of tea. Laos may surprise as well as Myanmar, both look good. Sri Lanka and India are beautiful girls with no so good bodies. Cambodia looks gorgeous in SS, but in EG she has funny hairstyle, it doesn't suits her at all.
USA is solid girl, but I don't like her.
If I was judge I would choose:
Europe: Russia, Slovak R., Iceland and Poland...
Africa-Asia: Angola, Thailand, Laos, Nigeria
America: Peru, Mexico, Jamaica and Colombia.
4+ : Sri Lanka, Germany, India and Israel (or Lebanon)...

I will watch the preliminary today. I think the performance is not also a guarantee for a placement in the Top 16. Remember Miriam Habach she's the best performer in MU 2016.

I am watching the preliminary. Angola, Ireland, Honduras is now in my list. For sure there will be a surprise countries in the Top 16.
I am afraid South Africa will not make it into the Top 16. In Africa Group I prefer Angola, Tanzania, and Nigeria and even Namibia before South Africa.
