Do Pageants have Height Requirements spelled out in their By-Laws??????

Hey everyone.......First of all I have to say that I LOVE this forum.......it seems like all of the intelligent and mature pageant viewers are gathered here as opposed to the "other forum" whose name I will not repeat.....I know I'm late in registering but this forum is AWESOME.......

Well my first question is "Are the height requirements for the major pageants spelled out in the by-laws or in another official document or is it just an unspoken agreement between the organizations that own these pageants and the national directors of each country?"...................................

I ask this because there is an ongoing debate on another forum questioning that organization's height requirements and the fact that their winners so far have been among the taller contestants. In my opinion, I do believe that height is a part of the requirement for entering a pageant and see nothing wrong with this. What are you guys' opinions?

And about the question - I think it´s an unspoken agreement. The truth is if you want to win you should be tall... but what height is enough? 170 cm? 175 cm? I don´t know. In all beauty pageants we can see a few with height about 160 cm and few also about 185 cm. The most of them are between 172 and 180.
Here in Czech Republic we have two competitions (Miss Czech Republic and Ceska Miss) an neither has any limits about a height and some contestants are really short. On the other hand - I don´t rememer a winner under 174 cm Very Happy

height is not really necessary, but tall girls are much visible and gain attention the most!!!btw you seem intriging about what u said about other forum, do we know you? anyways welcum cheers

the MUO has no "height requirements." it is in the national pageants' discretion to enforce a minimum height requirement to get in, e.g. Binibining Pilipinas: 5'5", Miss Venezuela: 5'7"

re: height, i've always thought that height is might in pageants. taller girls look smashing in swimsuits, especially toned and fit girls with long legs.

And about your question, in my very own personal opinion the quality and knowledge of a person shouldn't be judge because of their height, so as you know my answer is NO, I am against of that requirements... Have a nice day, and keep enjoying this peaceful forum.. Wink

Gotcha......so its not really about height....it's about presentation.....Yeah, about the other forum.....I was a poster but not a regular poster because I didn't like the politics.....and then when the drama escalated, I decided to not post anymore. I didn't like the way the admin were treating posters and it seemed very immature and childish. I had several run ins with Mario....and I'm good friends with Kirk. So, I'm not widely known but I know what happened....Anyway, water under the bridge thanks for the remarks and the welcome Very Happy

I respect that Dess and actually you have a valid point it should be about quality and the knowledge as well.....but I guess I was thinking that height probably gives more of an advantage....but I agree

So basically the national pageants enforce the minimum height requirments......Wow Venezuela has really high standards. Thank you for this piece of information.

yeah...cause if the candidate is tall she can easily be noticed..but i can say too that theres a lot of beautiful girls whose luck in height
