This photo was published on 8th July, eleven days before the final night. Miss Japan, Kyoko Otani (right), 21, of Tokyo, is given a warm welcome on her arrival at Los Angeles by Miss Washington, Diana Schafer (left), 18, of Bellevue. Both girls are contestants in the Miss Universe 1957 contest.
