This photo was published on 21^st July, two days after the final night. Miss Puerto Rico, Mapita Mercado, the only coloured contestants in the Miss Universe Pageant at Long Beach, California, was selected by other contestants as “Miss Friendship” during the competition. She won out over Jean Spotts of Newberry, South Carolina, for the title. Mapita is a movie actress in Mexico.
