Re: MISS UNIVERSE 2023: PREMILIMINARY COMPETITION!!
My first review after watching the swimsuit round.
I love the energy of the crowd in El Salvador.
Swimsuit
First group - I don't understand why they have a cape, but the rest of the group doesn't have it.
Albania started with energy.
Girls who performed well from my eyes.
Colombia - she's my best in swimsuit, just clean performance.
Australia - I love her charisma. Her beauty is very Trump Era Miss Australia.
Bolivia - A pleasant surprised , it would be nice seeing Bolivia back into the semis.
Chile - I believe she performed well.
Belgium - I just love her, so many European who don't know how to walk. I think her advantage is she's a dancer.
El Salvador - the host candidate did not disappoint her country. I am not a fan when she won her national title, but she proved a lot that she's deserving.
Egypt - weak sash, but if she did well during the interview, we may see Egypt in the semis for the first time.
Curacao - nobody is talking about her, but she's actually doing good.
Guatemala - another Central America who did not disappoint.
Lebanon - Pretty face!
Honduras - A pleasant surprised. Weak sash but since it's Central America, we may see Honduras in the semis.
Mexico - Performer, as expected.
Portugal - it seems like she's the best from Europe.
Philippines - clean pasarela. Her hair reminded me of Miss China 2019
Panama - she can walk the walk.
Nicaragua - another best in swimsuit here. She can give the highest placement for her country.
Spain - exotic beauty. Another European country that has more chances of placing.
Russia - love her playful walk, not a pageant patty.
Thailand - As expected, she's still a frontrunner.
Venezuela - one of the best swimsuit walks.
Puerto Rico = South Africa = I kinda forgotten them.
We've seen so many performers in the past who still did not make the cut. So still, we can expect ladies who did not perform well in the Top 20.

Re: MISS UNIVERSE 2023: PREMILIMINARY COMPETITION!!
I loved your review... Firstable I hate those hidious swimmsuits, it's a slap on the face from MU's organizatión to put a QR Code in order to promote Internet users to buy that crap. the skinny girls looked wide and the curvy girls looked fat.. Pathetic!bonner wrote:My first review after watching the swimsuit round.

We must to thak to the producer that took-off the capes for the contestants. Please, erase that part of the swimmsuit catwalk and to bring again the beach wraps.
Only 4 or 5 contestants looked pretty well in their swimsuit. I know judges only rated the catwalk, but in my opinion this part of the competition was a mess because of swimmsuits. As you said, there was a big surprises and that it's the lovely of the preli in the competition. I saw new contenders as Ecuador, Honduras, Guatemala, Zimbabwe, Pakistán, Egypt, Lebannon, Germany (resurfaced), etc.
I agree that we've seen so many performers in the past who still did not make the cut althought they did great at the preli, for example, The tocuyo's contestant which she was widely the favorite.

Re: MISS UNIVERSE 2023: PREMILIMINARY COMPETITION!!
Here is my final prediction after watching the preliminaries and taking into account the Voice for Change videos:
Top 20
Pakistan: this year's most beautiful face, should be favored by judge Halima Aden
France: questionable dress and a bit matronly, but exudes personality and speaks well
Great Britain: somewhat underwhelming, but pretty, very poised, and with strong credentials
Philippines: solid performance overall, speaking skills could perhaps be stronger
Bahrain: over the top swimsuit presentation, but pretty face and terrific speaker
Portugal: lively and confident, should be favored by Khun Ann
Cameroon: very pretty and exotic, exudes class and poise
Domincan Republic: strong overall, speaking skills could be her weakness
Costa Rica: pretty face, very bubbly, excellent preliminary performance
USA: not my cup of tea facially, great preliminary performance, will place because of her sash
Top 10
El Salvador: confident, solid performance, should be rewarded because El Salvador has been a great host
Spain: unique exotic beauty, sassy, could be a great diversity pick
Colombia: strong performer, Ariadna Gutierrez vibes
India: lively, great moves, her sash will help her go far
Nicaragua: could look more natural, but super performer and big fan favorite. Will history repeat itself with a Latina girl named Palacios being crowned Miss Universe in Central America? (already happened in 1986)
Top 5
Mexico: strong overall, Andrea Meza vibes, should benefit from Lupita Jone's retirement
Argentina: great body, good speaker, super performer, has a Colombian quality about her
Top 3
2nd runner-up: Puerto Rico: has everything it takes, speaks very well, great dress
1st runner-up: South Africa: very queenly, lethal oratory, could unexpectedly take it all
Miss Universe: Thailand: has everything in the right measure, Amanda Obdam vibes. I always thought Paula Shugart would prevent her from winning but in the end I gave in to the consensus that she's the one.

Re: MISS UNIVERSE 2023: PREMILIMINARY COMPETITION!!
My thoughts after prelims:
The strongest performences belong to Nicaragua, Colombia and Australia.
Thailand was just ok to me, but I guess that her performance was just a small piece of her capabilities and she keeps energy for the final night.
I expected more from Puerto Rico as well. Not outstanding.
Not a fan of Venezuela but overall very strong performance.
Mexico remains one of my favs, her evening gown could be better
Loved India's energy
Unfortunately Europe is really weak this year. France is the biggest disappointment. My girl Angelika was too stressed Only Germany was a plesant surprise to me and I think she was the best from Europe.
Russia and Bahrain apparrently confused MU with MGI. Their swimsuit performances were kinda funny.
Cameroon is the prettiest girl from Africa IMO. Never liked South Africa but I guess that she will make the cut instead of Cameroon. Her performance was solid.
