She is really doing Well.....I believe she will surprise us all!!!
I like her look. She just needed to lose some more weight. I am getting a reserved feel from her. She needs to project herself more. I hope she is articulate. Sometimes that is what makes you or breaks you.
According to my sources, Joanna is 6 feet tall and now weighs 135 pounds! How much more should she have lost without looking sick? The thing is, Joanna has a big frame.... she's got broader shoulders, etc. compared to the rest of these girls. I think she's at a good weight for her height. And yes, she is articulate. The girl is a champion debater.
You need to understand it is not just about the weight. You need to be proportionate. She can tone up her stomach and her legs. She has a nice face. But, when you look at her she looks kind of timid. I am glad to hear she is articulate. I want her to do well. But, we need to be realistic to. These little things can either make you win or make you lose. You need to be polished at these pageants. And possess that all roundedness.
I can assure you that Joanna is NOT timid! I really don't see how you get that from all the pics I've seen of her at Miss World. She appears to be very outgoing. As far as her body, we'll see what she brings at the swimsuit competition. Besides, I remember in 2007 Miss Angola was terribly out of shape, and she made Top 3, and that same year Yendi Phillips made it to Top 5 of Beach Body with a less than perfect figure.
Joanna has been coached and styled for this pageant by one of the world's best (Bobby Ackbarali), the same man who coached Gabrielle Walcott and Valene Maharaj, and many others before them who went on to do well, so I have no doubt she is bringing it. And as for being polished, from her photos I can tell that she is one of the most polished and well styled contestants there! Wait and see.... many of you will be surprised at how well she does.
Glamorous Chic, dont get me wrong. I want Joanna to do well. I know Bobby Ackbarali is good. But, at the end of the day it comes down to the girl herself. Maybe you can not see what I see. And that is ok. Lets see how she does.

AS I ANTICIPATE JOANNA IS EASILY THE DARLING OF THE MISS WORLD PAGEANT...I EXPECT AN UPSET WIN OR A VERY HIGH PLACEMENT...

PRESS RELEASE
Nassau, Bahamas (MBO) November 16, 2009 – In the weeks leading up to the start of the Miss World competition, she was ranked at #71 out of 113 contestants. A day after arriving to London, she climbed to 62nd place. However, after making an impressive showing at a string of Miss World events, Joanna Brown now sits in the 22nd spot on the Global Beauties leader board, jumping by a whopping 40 points in one swoop. “I think I have only seen a jump like this once before and that was in Miss Universe after the preliminaries with Kosovo,” says Global Beauties publisher Patrick Tripoldi. “Miss Bahamas is one of the MOST talked about contestants!” adds the website’s moderator Pasquale.
Global Beauties is one of the world’s most respected pageant portals. Each year, it publishes its “Hot Picks” list for the world’s Grand Slam pageants – Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Tourism Queen International, Miss Earth and Miss International. These lists are based on the votes of participating judges who watch the contestants every move during the competition. The Global Beauties leader board is highly anticipated by pageant fans worldwide who use it as a measure of who is doing well and who is not.
Since arriving in London on November 6th, Joanna has been testing her mettle against the world’s most beautiful women from over 100 countries. Fresh off a three-week training and grooming regiment with her stylist/coach Bobby Ackbarali, she arrived in the U.K. full of confidence while maintaining an air of sophistication and her sweet, modest demeanor. This combination, along with a killer wardrobe, was enough to capture the eyes of pageant watchers worldwide. According to Mr. Tripoldi, he and other judges are enamored with Miss Bahamas World. “She is stunning!” he says. “She made such an impact at the Charity Awards dinner, we could not stop talking about her. She personifies everywoman! What a beauty you guys picked.” Global Beauties experts had ample time to take a good look at Joanna during the Charity dinner, as her auction gift proved to be one of the most popular of the night. Her gift of an all expense paid 7 night stay at Sammy T’s Beach Resort in Cat Island as well as roundtrip airfare for two (courtesy of British Airways and Cat Island Air) was one of the highest revenue generating items of the night.
However as Mr. Tripoldi explains, it was Joanna’s showing during a three day trip to Abu Dhabi that began to set her apart. “I have to tell you that her performance and appearance in Abu Dhabi impressed so many judges, she instantly came up 40 points,” he said. “Her skin is flawless. Her face is captivating. I have never seen such a goddess in a gown - any gown.” Mr. Tripoldi was especially impressed by Joanna’s incredible wardrobe. “Whether it be the white gown at the Charity Dinner, the Gold Brocade for the Travel Awards, the perfect designer piece in A.D., she is the epitome of "woman"!” He went so far as to make a bold prediction. “For me personally, she is MY Miss World 2009. In my opinion, it is a three way race between Joanna, Leah from Barbados and Magdalena from New Zealand. They have the "it" factor and it is time for Miss World to crown a black woman again. I also think Thanuja from Malaysia, Luciana from Brazil, Zeynep from Belgium and Perla from Mexico are outstanding.”
The contestants are now in South Africa where this year’s pageant will be held on December 12th. Joanna has already made the semifinals in the Talent competition – a fast track to the pageant finals for the winner – and is looking forward to doing equally as well in other fast track events like the Sportswoman Competition, Beauty with a Purpose, and Top Model. If she advances to the Miss World finals or better, she would become only the second Bahamian woman to do so. That distinction now solely belongs to Jody Barbara Weech who earned the Queen of the Caribbean title and a semifinal placement in the 1992 Miss World pageant.

Apparently Rafa Delfin from Critical Beauty agrees with Patrick Tripoldi! This is what he wrote on his facebook page: "This girl takes my breath away! Clearly Joanna Brown, Miss Bahamas, is the all-around standout contestant in this year's Miss World! I can't get enough of her!"

Re: JOANNE BROWN (BAHAMAS World 2009)
MISS BAHAMAS WORLD JOANNA BROWN HAS MADE THE FINALS OF THE TALENT FAST TRACK IN THE MISS WORLD PAGEANT! She will be among the contestants competing for a spot in the semifinals during Sunday's talent competition. We wish Joanna all the best as she prepares for the performance of her life!
Meanwhile, President Jacob Zuma met the 112 Miss World contestants today at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria to wish them well in their preparations for the Miss World Final at Gallagher Estate, Johannesburg on 12 December 2009. Addressing the contestants, ahead of meeting each one of them individually, President Zuma remarked that despite the gloomy weather he extended a warm welcome and pointed out the valuable role they have to play: "The Miss World Contest brings nations of the world together and is an important platform for promoting unity and togetherness amongst all of us. There are many challenges facing the world such as poverty, disease and conflicts. Our Miss World contestants and national queens can play an important role in raising awareness about these ills and promote action for peace, love, togetherness and prosperity. This contest also promotes economic activity, especially tourism, amongst world nations and encourages people to people contact and cooperation." For the contestants the Presidential meeting was the highlight of their South African trip to date and a once in a lifetime opportunity. During her one-on-one interaction with the President, Joanna thanked him for hosting the contestants, saying she was honored to meet him. She also brought love and greetings from the people of the Bahamas. The exchange caught the media's attention and was featured during a news story on SABC3 TV. Tomorrow the Miss World Group will visit Soweto before flying off to Kwa Zulu Natal for three days where the Miss Beach Beauty final will be held...........MBO - Press Release
