Gotta make a note here. Year 2007 in Helsinki was ONE OF THE TOUGHEST this millenium. The semifinal had such amazing songs and there were so many songs (28!!!!) and then ONLY 10 make it to the final!!!!!!
No wonder they changed the rules to two semifinals after 2007!! I'm sure Evridiki would've made it to the final had there been 2 semis in 2007!! It was such a great performance and I loved the stagegraphics
she deserved it,it was unfair she wasnt in the final.
Actually that year i was rooting for Ukraine for wining as well.... Evridiki was nice song, but too many sng also good that years, but specially when all the counties Soviet & Balkans was made it on the semi-final and that was the reazon why Evridiki not made the cut... I find her verry beutifull also

Re: EUROVISION 2010 UPDATES - GERMANY!!!!!!!
Well, I think that two semifinals helped to put and end to the eastern european domination!
I think the biggest problem was with the Balkan, ex-yugoslavian countries giving ALL of the highest votes to each other

its true, but the truth is the greek diaspora massively votes only when there is a known artist and a song they like involved."Yasou Maria" "everything" and "this is our night" are the best recent cases that didnt have a good reception. If that was only the case Greece,Turkey and Russia would be every years winners. And yes we exchange votes with Cyprus cause we are basicaly the same country for gods shake sharing the same artists.Evridike or "One" for example are working in the Greek Market for decades.Elena receiving 12 p from sweden in 2005 wasnt unexpected as she is raised there and established singer.Plus come on, 12p to Gr or Cyp never shaved us the previous decades.Bottom line, every one(well almost everyone) does it one way or another year by year.......pointing fingers would be hillarious. The big 4 are the ones losing from this imo,but they ve helped with their entries(except Germany and France which have had songs i liked, but with the jury back i hope this will be solved).

I don't really have a problem with Greece and Cyprus exhanging votes, I really don't. Because that alone has never helped Greece. You need to have more votes than one 12 points from you neighbourg! And of course it's understandable that greek artist are in a way cypriot artists and vice versa! I understand the bond these two countries have. And because it's just one 12points that are at stake it does not make an impact. And I have to disagree with SABI when you talk about the diaspora votes. IN NO WAY can you say that it's the same thing with Greece than it is with Turkey or Armenia. I mean they have spread much more across Europe that greeks. You don't see Germany or the Netherlands giving 12points each year to Greece
The problem with ex-Yugoslavian countries is that they have, over the years, split into so many countries. Once it was Yugoslavia, now it Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Fyrom, Montenegro and Serbia. Talk about lot of votes if all of them are in one semifinal. You have almost all of them advancing to the final, except for poor Slovenia who always is left with the 6points. While the highest 7,8,10,12 always are divided to the rest. In this case the two semifinals helped, since they weren't allowed to vote for each other when being in different semis. And don't get me wrong, many of the song were great and deserved to be in the final, and got there because OTHER countries voted for them too (like Bosnia-Herz. 2006, Serbia 2007) but in 2005 and 2006 FYROM only advanced to the final because of neighbourg votes.
I don't like when some say it's the same for Nordic countries that it is for ex-Yugoslavian countries. IT SO IS NOT!!! Sure, Lordi got 12 points from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland. But show me another year Nordic countries would have voted for Finland like that. You can't. And with Nordic countries it's not that consistant. Like Finland, Sweden, Norway DO NOT give all it's highest votes to other Nordic countries. We only do that when they are good...
But like look how Finland voted 2009....
10p Iceland, 8p Norway and 7p Sweden. Yeah, it looks bad, I know, but no points to Denmark 12points went to Estonia
And Finland DID not get ANY points from Norway or Denmark. ONLY 4points from Sweden and Estonia and 8 points from Iceland
Then in 2008
Finland gave 12p to Norway, 10p to Russia, 8p to Israel, 7p Iceland, 6p Bosnia-Herzegovina and 5p to Sweden.
NO points to Denmark
And Finland got 7p from Iceland, 4p from Norway and 7points from Sweden. No points from Denmark
And the SAME kind of votes can be seen from other Nordic countries. There's ALWAYS other countries that can make their way to the highest points instead of neighbourgs!! So, I guess you get my point here!

Re: EUROVISION 2010 UPDATES - GERMANY!!!!!!!
Agreed!Same goes for the ex ESSR COUNTRIES though, but in their cases sometimes i find the songs more deserving. Some other times though,i just wonder what the hell......Plus i want to mention that when it comes to Finland, it seems that by the so called ""nordic"" alliance,is being treated like the Poor relative. This is a note made by the grand damme of the Greek ESC, Daphne Bokota, that always highlighted that although Finland tried hard many times, the Nordic countries never favored its efforts.Milka wrote:Tidus wrote:its true, but the truth is the greek diaspora massively votes only when there is a known artist and a song they like involved."Yasou Maria" "everything" and "this is our night" are the best recent cases that didnt have a good reception. If that was only the case Greece,Turkey and Russia would be every years winners. And yes we exchange votes with Cyprus cause we are basicaly the same country for gods shake sharing the same artists.Evridike or "One" for example are working in the Greek Market for decades.Elena receiving 12 p from sweden in 2005 wasnt unexpected as she is raised there and established singer.Plus come on, 12p to Gr or Cyp never shaved us the previous decades.Bottom line, every one(well almost everyone) does it one way or another year by year.......pointing fingers would be hillarious. its weird....it starts nicely, but goes melodrama all the way later especially with the lyrics.maybe in Turkish it would sound better actually.

This is true unfortunately....
It has been since the beginning. While Sweden, Norway and Denmark always seemed to pull together, Finland was left with the "nul point" more occasions than one. I mean, I know that we didn't quite shine in the 90's particular, but many time I had to wonder if we really were that bad!?!
And by the way, thank you to the Greek jury who found our 1994 entry "bye, bye baby" worth of 10 points!
But I remember Greece being "our friend" many times during the jury-years. Like 1994, also 1993 you gave us 8 points. Even 1991 we got 1 point from Greece. 10 points in 1985, 8 points in 1983. So cheers

Re: EUROVISION 2010 UPDATES - GERMANY!!!!!!!
I was SO MAD when I heard the arragment of Bye bye baby that night. I mean for once we sent a song that was compatible with the rest. It was 90's discosong and then our stupid conductor (who can only wish he was as good as the legend OSSI RUNNE) ruined the song by deciding that we ain't gonna use the backing track!!!!!
And then of course the perfomance was a but weird. The clothes and.... oh well, at least the irish audience gave it a BIG cheer!

Well not was a rummor .. He really was wanted compited on the Russian ESC 2010... But know it that doesn't not will be good for her career if ended down or whose than in 2006 & 2008, the Russian Channel One was foreced to not to accept to give opportunity to others new singers... Now im rooting for Alexander Panaiotov for win.... But i know that TIDUS & Milka will pray that he will lose on purpose because will be a strong competition for Norway, Spain, Greece and others westen europeans songs....
