MISS EARTH 2009 Preliminary Judging was held on Sunday

Each contestant from 80 countries around the world was judged during a "closed-door" preliminaries to select 18 semi finalists, who will vie for the coveted title of Miss Earth 2009. The contestants was scored based on their presentation (with no make-up) in Swimsuit, Evening Gown and Interview.
Unveiling of the new Miss Earth crown is tonight during the final of Evening Gown Competition to be held at PAGCOR Grand Theatre.

I don't understand why the contestants are judged without make-up during the prelims and they are allowed to wear a lot of make-up during the finals...it doesn't make sense to me. As for Miss Philippines winning some awards, well, since its inception, pretty much every year Miss Philippines grabs an award, deserving or not, gorgeous or not, she always does...so its kind of a norm now to Miss Philippines winning an award every year. As for Sandra, I think she is gorgeous and I guess she deserves it.However, it would be better if the pageant was held somewhere else and with less filipino judges. The last 2 Miss Earth were both of filipino decent and both were plain janes and a lot of people still disagree with their victories. Although Sandra is gorgeous, I hope she doesn't win Miss Earth because that would just look very fishy.

we agree,plus i have SERIOUS doubts about whether or not this is a pageant that should be considered big and what we call it "BIG 4"...IN TERMS OF QUALITY IN ALMOST EVERY ASPECT(FROM CONTESTANTS TO PRESENTATIONS AND FACILITIES USED) IM NOT SATISFIED AT ALL as a viewer and follower.Up to this point IT ALL SEEMS TO ME "LETS REPEAT THE SAME PAGEANT WE HAD LAST YEAR" nothing different....every pic i see reminds me last year.The idea behind miss earth is great but.....the pageant needs work.
pics like these make me doubt alot. KITSCH AT ITS BEST.
