THE PAGEANT
This year's hosts: Borgy Manotoc, Sarah Meier and Marc Nelson.
Sarah Meier, model and anchor of "Philippine Fashion Week TV", Marc Nelson, model and co-anchor of "Sports Unlimited" and "The Duke" and model Borgy Manotoc will host the 2009 Miss Earth Pageant on ABS-CBN on Sunday, November 22nd delayed telecast at 10:45 p.m. (Philippine Time) from paradise island of Boracay in the Philippines.
Model, Sarah Meier is the host of fashion magazine show "Philippine Fashion Week TV" on cable network ETC and has worked as a VJ for MTV Philippines in 2000 to 2005. Meier also has an events company called Steak Productions.
Meier is no stranger to Miss Earth having co-hosted the pageant in October of 2004 and as well as the Miss Philippines-Earth pageant.
Actor, host and model, Marc Nelson will serve as a co-host. Nelson is mostly credited for being one of Philippine television's most visible and prominent personalities. He co-anchors several television shows like the travel/adventure show "Sports Unlimited" on ABS-CBN, "The Duke", a glossy men's magazine talk show on AXN Asia and a reality/adventure show "Dare Duo" on cable network Qtv. He also appeared on the second season of "The Amazing Race Asia".
Nelson already hosted the pageant several times both Miss Philippines-Earth and Miss Earth.
Joining them is model, Borgy Manotoc. He appeared in several campaigns and walked the runway for both local and international brands. Manotoc is already well traveled at an early age having lived in California, London, Portugal and Singapore. He is currently living in New York finishing his studies in adveritising and public relations.
Philippine native Karla Paula Henry, Miss Earth 2008, will crown her successor at the conclusion of the telecast. During her reign, she has traveled the globe as an advocate for Environmental Awareness and promoting "Green-living". The newly crowned Miss Earth will go on to do the same.
Each contestant from 80 countries around the world were judged during a "closed-door" preliminaries to select, for the first time, 18 semi finalists, who will vie for the coveted title of Miss Earth 2009.
