Miss Universe Italy 2011 is ELISA TORRINI!! PAGEANT-MANIA listed on MU ITALY website!

Miss Universe Italy was established in 2002: On June 28 Silvia Ceccon was crowned as winner on live television. Following the victory, Silvia represented Italy at the finals in Panama City on June 3, 2003.

Before 2002, however, was the Miss Italia to represent the nation at the prestigious international competition: for example Denny Mendez, elected in 1997, obtained the highest combined score among the six finalists and then hand finish fifth in the overall standings.

The last Miss Italia that represented the country at Miss Universe was Gloria Bellicchi in 1999 (finished twentieth in the preliminary competition). Since then, the Italian representative for Miss Universe contest is chosen through the Miss Universe Italy contest.

Italy has a particularity: it is the country with the highest placings in the history of the competition world, but has never won. One of the best results has recently reached by Claudia Ferraris,that came in the semifinals in 2008(Finishing 9th).

The reigning queen is Jessica Cecchini,who will represent Italy at the 59th Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Las Vegas,Nevada,USA.

The Competitions to choose the new Miss Universe Italy 2011 have already begun(that means that the new Miss Italia won't be competing at the Miss Universe pageant )

The 1st Regional Competition was held in Casoria and the winner was Nastassia Avolio,18 years old and 1.73 m.

The 2nd Regional Competition was held in Santa Teresa Gallura. The 3 winners were Serena Fattacciu, 20 years old, from Sassari, Sara Sanna, 20 years old, di Cagliari and Carola Savio, 17 years old from Iglesias.

The 3rd Regional Competition was held in Pula. The winners were Ilaria Busonera,17 years old from Quarto Sant'Elena,Roberta Camba,17 years old from Cagliari and Laura Carta,19 years old from Cagliari.

The winner of 4th the regional contest is Laura Piras,18 years and 173 cm.
