Miss Earth Trivia after the 2011 Results!

* Ecuador won for the first time as Miss Earth, at the same time the 3rd country from South America (The 1st was Brazil in 1968, Venezuela in 1981) who won 2 crown in the Grand slam pageant at the same year. Ecuador is also Miss International this year and won in the minor pageant Continente Americano 2011.

* Brazil already had its 3rd Miss Air crown, the first two was in 2001 & 2003.

* Thailand placed 5 consecutive years in the semis.

* Venezuela placed 7 consecutive years in the semis.

* Ecuador is also in the top 4 last year and almost get the Miss Earth crown, Jennifer placed as 1st (Air) and later dethroned because she get married. Miss Russia who is only a semifinalist in 2010 assumed the title.

* Crimea, Zimbabwe, Chinese Taipei, Portugal, Slovenia enter the semis for the first time.

* Countries who are also in the semis last year and made it again this year are Ecuador, Thailand, Venezuela, Japan, & Ukraine.

* The pageant was held in UP Theater for the sixth time.

* For a change the girls wear their amazon Costume in the Opening.

* India won last year but not even in the semis this year. India didnt placed in the 4 grand slam pageant this year.

* There is a little bit resemblance of the 2006 Edition. The pageant should take place in Chile but move back in the Philippines. Surprisingly Chile won that year. This year the pageant should take place in Thailand but because of the flood it move back again in the Philippines although Thailand is not the winner this year the resemblance is in 2006 the winner is also from South America. In 2006 Philippines placed 2nd (Water), Venezuela placed 3rd (Fire), this year Philippines placed again 2nd and Venezuela as 3rd. In 2006 India placed 1st (Air) while this year India unplaced. In 2006 Brazil is unplaced while this year Brazil placed 1st (Air).

* This year best in swimsuit which is Czech Rep is not in the semis, it happened also in 2003 when Miss France get the award but unplaced.

* The Best in Gown which is Mexico just ended as Top 8 finalist. So far no Miss Earth titleholder gets this award.

* Japan won Best in National Costume 2 years in a row.

* For the first time the winner of the award Miss Photogenic was selected through online voting and facebook.

* The Top 16 is back, last year there are only 14 semis spot.

* Europe dominated the semis 2 years in a row, and again none of them advanced in the top 4.

* Since 2001 in terms of placement in the semis Philippines still leading with a total of 9. Philippines only missed the cut 2 times (2007 & 2010).

* Brazil still the powerhouse of Miss Earth pageant.

* Aruba, Austria,& Sri Lanka competed for the first time.

Only Sweden,Paraguay ,Ecuador advanced in the semis.

Interesting Trivia. Philippines being the leader in terms of placements is very questionable...especially with some of their representatives. Glad to see Ecuador getting some recognition.

[b]Totally questionable indeed! How could Carousel have let Athena make the cut in the Top 16 where there were more than a dozen deserving girls? This looks so ridiculous! When Athena was crowned Miss Philippines Earth, I was sure of myself she will not make it even as a semi finalist! Talk about her vertical measurement, (So SHOOORT), and she doesnt have the face , the physical beauty, she doesnt look like a queen! I feel sad for carousel! scratch

Im More happy if Philippines is not in the semis, since Philippines is leading in terms of semis spot...

Athena is just Lucky..the major sponsor want to see Philippines in the semis...

So whoever the representative of the Philippines should be there

But i really dont know how she survived in the swimsuit round thats questionable! Rolling Eyes

Sandra Seifert in 2009 and Jeanne Harn in 2007 were the only really stunning filipinas to have competed in ME. The rest are pretty much cute at best. We see gorgeous Filipinas competing every year in MU, MW and MI and then, the Philippines come up with an average girl in ME and she makes it to the top4 and we're supposed to believe that there was no bias behind that? If Carousel Productions want the pageant to expand and attract top notch candidates, it has to leave politics aside and make the pageant credible.
